Imagine the most amoral teenager on the Phillips Exeter Academy lacrosse team, or a wannabe Daily Show correspondent…
This is why you have to choose your child’s name very carefully.
Nah, it’s not a stupid question and I’m glad you asked :-)
I love sealing wax. I bought some at Hallmark when I was about ten, with my birthday money, and then used it for years (until I lost the seals in a move). I wrote a lot of letters in my teens/early 20s, too (pen pals, plus a lot of SF fandom was conducted by letter back then), so I got a lot of use out of it.
I’m still unmarried, the thought of adding another name makes me nauseous. Anyway, right now it’s JSS (Jewish - sorry!) but if I did first - first/middle - last, it’s be JAS. I didn’t pick the latter because some people may think it’s my actual name. I know, mundane “problems”
Tell me more about these wax seals, because that is classy as fuck.
I fucking love monogrammed shit give me all of it now now now.
Plenty to go around if you change your mind.
Black women with natural hairstyles often put their hair into braids or twists at night, and then undo the braids/twists in the morning and style it into whatever look. These particular braids/twists aren’t generally considered a hairstyle unto themselves, they’re just a necessity to keep kinky hair from breaking, and…
It happens and it’s disgusting. I’ve had someone actually say, “oh wow! It’s actually really soft!!”
Okay so this has never happened to my friend with natural hair UNTIL we went to Europe and CRUSTIN’ EVERYONE touched her hair w/o asking - from Spain to Germany.
the closest thing i can compare it to is when you’re comfortable going makeup free around your significant other but its MUCH more intimate then that. Our natural hair is something deeply personal to us.
Some women don’t let their SO see them without make-up. For me, it’s the opposite. I don’t like wearing my hair natural, so I wear braids. Most of my partners are white and aren’t privy to seeing me au natural until well into the relationship. It’s about being comfortable with who you are and who you’re with, I guess.
It’s funny because when I watched that scene I literally gasped. It was really nice to see. Our hair needs to be set under a scarf, or it will not have the desired style the next day. This becomes difficult when you want to look sexy for your man and you look like Aunt Jemima. So when you get to a point in your…
It completely boggles my mind that strangers will touch other people’s hair! Boggles!!
I still can’t get over the fact that an adult will touch a stranger’s hair. WTF, people? I really just can’t believe that, except, of course, I do believe it. I’ve heard and read this so often. So when I say “Unbelievable!” I should be specific that I find the absolute CRUST (my Aunt Clare’s word from another time) of…
The scene in Atlanta that gets Zazie Beetz the biggest reaction involves hair. In the pilot episode of Donald…
