Man, I'm a civil engineer and I deal with this shit every day. The amount of safety regulations on buildings is so overwhelming it's unbelievable sometimes. And yes, I agree with you that if they are for safety they aren't stupid, but it's how much of these regulations are imposed (some of them being very unnecessary).

I dunno! Whatever it is that the city does to put restrictions on anything claiming them for safety. I don't know how often you see moving facades but for me I've never seen any.

It means that some types of marble like Granite for instance is a very hard type. It is less porous and shaping it would take increasingly more time and effort than other types. I know for sure this is not granite because it doesn't host the color in the photos but I was just curious!
