Even 1 hour of tree punching is too much.
I agree with this. They really need to get over the boring tedium crap that keeps people away from these games.
All of these survival games are just Inane Chore List Simulators, and I do not even remotely understand the appeal.
An interesting thing I learned about all of this recently is than Nintendo doesn’t have copyright on every Pokemon they have ever made. It would be very very expensive to do so, they mostly maintain Gen1 stuff, Pikachu, the last 2 gens of starters and some but not all legendary pokemon.
As a parent my biggest concern is they forget the target audience and make this far to mature. The original Avatar cartoon manages to be both an amazing story about some really serious topics and still manages to be appropriate for 7 year olds.
There’s a lot of *season 1* that can get trimmed. 2 and 3? Not so much
AI is just a fancy way to say “procedurally generated”, and we’ve had various forms of procedurally generated dungeons for decades. GPT models are just procedurally generated content that’s better at images and text.
Exactly. Can’t believe all the knee jerk reactions to about this that basically are “But think of Nintendo!”
Am I supposed to be cheering for Nintendy to sue the Palworld devs into oblivion? I am fine with them making Pokemon ripoffs and giving them guns. It’s cheap. It’s kinda funny. I probably won’t play the game.
And if they were just 1-1 ripping off Pokemon, they likely grabbed the 3d models from a third party and made their own customizations. Far more likely (and MUCH easier) than trying to train AI to generate details and color palletes.
There’s clearly a deliberate attempt to make players see these monsters and associate them with Pokemon, and a lot of the designs have obvious similarities - even moreso than other Pokemon-likes. But claiming one creature is clearly a rip-off of another because of one or two design similarities - plant dinosaurs with…
Not speaking specifically to Palworld, I find kind of funny that in a post-AI world, you really can’t make a parody off an IP without being accused of using AI. If the purpose is to riff off of Pokemon, than essentially you’d want to invoke Pokemon as much as you can while skirting copywrite.
My favorite part of this story is that nintendo hasn’t actually said anything. People are getting defensive over armchair analysis.
So clearly this article is wrong in saying, once you enter from Pipe Rock Plateau, it’s just there?
Yup, you have to beat Wiggler in the final race to unlock that special entrance.
Also, the music changes based on your size/power up. There are obvious Trombone notes being played when in Elephant mode, that arent present when small or large size. Attention to detail in this game is awesome.
I don’t get the hate about the voices. I mean sure they’re kind of bit odd, but among the arrangement of bouncy sound effects and jazzy soundtracks, they rather blend well and aren’t much of annoyance.
the flowers are cool and they are my friends. i will never silence them.
