The flow of the ‘caper’ narrative and all the stuff that seems off or retread might be attributable to alterations late in the game to excise an infection/vaccine storyline.

Don’t know how I’d like it as a uni-condiment.  But I’ve long enjoyed putting cranberry on top of my Thanksgiving dressing and topping it with scratch turkey gravy.  The mix of the sage and savory and sweet is cherished.

The problem with TH8 is that it goes against Tarantino’s skill in cinematography and relies solely on his skill in dialog.  It’s a stage play on the big screen.  All the narrative is exposition.  The story is all the stories being told.  Live on the stage it could be powerful.  But on the screen it’s just lots of talk.

Good performances and character beats desperately trying to cover massive plot holes.  Turn your brain off just a little and you’ll be engrossed.  Watch it critically and you’ll be bedeviled.
