In addition to jarred garlic, a lot of places have pre-peeled whole cloves in a resealable bag. That is the sweet spot, but it’s expensive relative to the other options. You’re basically paying for the labor of peeling and packaging.

Garlic and ginger are two things where, if I’m feeling lazy I still enjoy the flavor approximation of the powder. But if I’m going all out, I consistently find it worth it to get the intensity and complexity differential from the real stuff.
