Woooow. As I was reading the story I was thinking “can’t wait to see what else the internet discovers about this crusty choade” and here we are!

“You are projecting a lot on a very neutral and straight-forward headline, friend.”

“Conor Oberst discusses false rape accusation” is about as neutral and straight forward as you could have gotten.

It seems that about half the commenters had the same reaction as potterpoet. So either there’s been a strange epidemic of “projection” or the article lacks clarity and a coherent editorial thrust. But I guess we bitches just be crazy.

I thought this article was great, but is there really anything wrong or incorrect about pointing out that the implication/connotation of the headline was at odds with the actual story?

It’s Jezebel; there’s no neutral. I’m positive the headline was written with deliberate intention.

Ok but why not highlight the really compassionate things he said about hating to think people will use his story as an example to silence women? If the point was truly to just neutrally report on an article we might be interested in why not highlight the part that might be far more notable? I get that it doesn’t out

right, I feel like we’re supposed to take offense to his comparison (for some reason that I honestly can’t parse out), but all I’m feeling is the respect for taking what was a really shitty thing that happened to him and instead making sure that it isn’t used as a case for disbelieving women, which is pretty awesome

Yeah I read this interview earlier and remain very impressed with my former crush. When things had to move to trial he wanted any money he won to be given to women’s shelters and anti-abuse resources. He ID’d as feminist before that word had any cache for music artists and followed through very much. He was super

Yeah, I find nothing objectionable about any of those quotes. I find Jezebel’s attempt to twist them into different arguments altogether pretty gross, but I guess Jezebel gonna Jezebel now and then, even with new owners.

Yes it is creepy when a man in his 30s wants to date a woman in her late teens early 20s. This is a really vulnerable age for a lot of people and there are plenty of people who want to take advantage of that vulnerability.

I think it’s less the size of the age gap as when it is. 42-32 isn’t nearly as bad for instance, or 52-42. In my mind at least it’s partly that someone who is still college age, while they’re legal adults, just aren’t quite yet in that adult/professional stage of life where it isn’t off for them to be dating someone

As a 32 year old, I could not date a 22 year old, but I don’t know if it’s creep territory. Though I do think CGM is more of an adult than Aaron Carter. Run, Chloe!

That’s awful

That’d be fine (sort of) if his pitch was for something altruistic and worth charity, i.e. feeding his starving children. This is a guy coming around once a month telling you about how he bragged to his friends about how he was gonna sup up his Honda Civic but his rich parents won’t give him money to do it. Hell, it’s

He also doesn’t seem to realize that by being such an asshole the entire campaign/presidency (also his entire life, of course) he’s made it politically advantageous for Pena Nieto to loudly and publicly rebuff him.

The transcript for his call with the Mexican president made me think of a dude begging a platonic female friend to accompany him to an ex’s wedding.

“hey if you have anything, anything at all for me that would be great.”

Yeah, that may work out as far as getting a sales lead or two, but these are world leaders. You can’t use pathetic whining to get world leaders to give you everything you want because they feel bad for you, particularly when they’re well aware

And Melania puts her arm on her shoulder to push her into his quivering maw. “Better you than me, bitch.”

Technically Melania has already passed her sell by date according to asshole but he wanted to be POTUS so he had to stay married to her. He’s a vile creature.
