Well we’re talking in relative terms compared to cars under 30K. The GTI dynos at 220hp/275tq to the wheels, not at the crank. That puts it in line with the WRX and Fiesta ST, but with more torque. This makes it one of the more powerful cars in the 30k range.

GTI is the best overall car in the real-world as long as you don’t have a family. Power, LSD, good interior, 4-door option, AND good mpg. You don’t have that combination with a WRX, ST, Mustang, Miata, or FRS/BRZ. Main thing you’d have to worry about is lack of space (vs cars like WRX), and somewhat questionable…
