In Macross Plus, singing primarily used as distraction/ploy by the Sharon Apple AI as it becomes self-aware takes over defense systems. Her fans eventually become like drones. Unlike other Macross series, it is paints a bleak view of idolism rather than sensationalizing it.

Seen only a couple episodes, but I couldn't stand its overuse of CG. I much prefer the blend of hand drawn animation and CG of Macross Plus.
Music wise, Macross plus was the best because of Yoko Kanno (who did the OST for Cowboy Bebop and Escaflowne). It was the kind of pop you weren't ashamed to listen to. Also along with Ghost in the Shell in the mid-90's were technological breakthroughs in the use of CGI and hand drawn animation.
It's just a 3 second clip in what is probably one of the least interesting things in that video. Not sure why this is even worth a mention. The lego part was cooler but also brief.
