Now I'm wondering if they put that much lens flare in twice to prove that the first time was deliberate. That or JJ Abrams sat in on the camera-bot programming.

Assuming you mean the sequence on the dance floor, I agree with you. The beginning was absolutely the best part, and certainly the most horrific. But the ending was so metaphysically satisfying, between the release of the trapped 'innocent' souls compared to the fate of those who 'deserved what they got' and the

Ghost Ship. It wasn't the best done or most frightening horror movie ever, but it had one of the most satisfying endings I've ever seen. Usually getting caught as an 'innocent bystander' in one of these movies is a trip to eternal damnation or at the very least limbo. This movie goes through the trouble of asking 'so

I'd like to throw in a shout-out for Django Wexler's The Shadow Throne. It's not quite as focused as his first book, but as a Magic and Muskets setting crossed with overtones of the French Revolution, it's very entertaining.

I'd choose the Gamecube version, if only because it's easier to hook up a component video cable to most modern TVs than it is to convert a Dreamcast to VGA. (I had an S-Video cable for it, but nothing takes S-Video these days.)

This is tempting me to try to hook up my Dreamcast. If it were a Skies of Arcadia figure, I would already be in the basement trying to figure out what happened to my controllers.

The anime also has an excellent closing credits scene. You put up a screenshot but didn’t mention how good the closing music is, along with Rumi’s tsundere reaction to Seki-kun’s drumming.

My biggest fear is that Google will fail and these kinds of cars will be delayed for another 20 years.

I don’t know if it’s about my own mortality or not. What I do know is that the older I get, the less I want to see characters suffer, even characters that ‘deserve’ it (or, in horror movies and games, ‘break the rules’). I have no desire to watch any of the Saw movies, for example. I have no desire to subject myself

Not to put too fine a point on it, but subjecting your fetus to an ongoing black magic ritual in order to regain your Hexenbeast powers, causing said child to be born 3 months early (and never mind the freaky powers), pretty much puts you up for the Grimm universe equivalent of 'Child Protective Services' visit.

My wife's opinion is that Adalind is in no position to go with Nick's mom and the baby because the Royals know everything about her, and she would be very difficult to hide. The baby, by contrast, is pretty easy to hide unless they get her DNA for a sample-match.

SAO has the stronger initial arc. LH may be better suited for a long term anime adaption, though. The Aelfheim arc was (extremely) weak, and though I expect the GGO arc to be good, afterward they have pretty limited choices. They can, and should, do the Mother Rosario arc, focusing on Asuna, but the author appears to

You forgot to include Team America, a.k.a. 'Evel Knievel with powers' The Wikipedia entry for it is enlightening.

Great trailer, but needs a sequel where the girls from the diner pull a Mako and Sayuki and tromp him into the dunes in their customized SIL-80 starcruiser.

Worse, this is hardly the most disturbing thing by this author.

Banks, Gibson, and Leckie.

Having driven both the Prius and the Subaru, it's important to keep certain things in mind.

This is wonderful news. I still have my Homeworld 2 box in the closet, even if I haven’t played it in over a decade. I’m hoping that they make a multi-platform client for Steam so that I can just boot into it on my Mac and play a couple of rounds, or take it on the road when I’m traveling once the Haswell MBP13s come

This used to be my favorite film. Then I watched far too many actual Hong Kong action films. Now I can’t watch the fight scenes in BTILC, which sort of ruins the movie for me.
