Lauda has been on borrowed time since he got burned. It is amazing that he has lived this long with his compromised lungs. I wish him the best of recoveries.

And you have no idea how much I miss your writing, not only on the racing circuit, but just your overall passion. Your love for racing and automobiles just oozes from your writing and I loved waking up during the weekend and jumping on here to see what you were covering/covered. You’re dearly missed. Please keep me/us

A few months ago I had the great pleasure of randomly sitting next to her at a pub during the Amelia Island Concours. Considering that I basically grew up reading and admiring her prose (and Jamie Kitman’s) I hope to one be forgiven for giving her a bear hug when I realized who she was.

Yup, Jean went the wrong way when she sided with the publisher over Dave. Sure Dave was half way to the cemetery and technically they were her bosses not Dave, but he was right. Side with the bean counters, and they will choose the ever diminishing beans over staff every time. Jean went from every talk show’s favorite

I have a C&D subscription that my wife bought me using one of the “One Year for $5" type of deals. I haven’t read Automobile since Jean Jennings was canned.

I am a fucking curse. I subscribed to Sports Illustrated and a month later they switched to bi-weekly issues. I subscribed to Automobile Magazine and David Davis died and Ezra Dyer split to C&D. Automobile became a shell of what it once was. I just resubscribed to Car & Driver last month after a year hiatus and this

Car and Driver convinced me that writing would be a valuable and rewarding career.

US rally, Euro style:

Killing Buell has to Harley’s fourth-biggest mistake, behind “make the bikes loud and obnoxious,” “only market to baby boomers,” and “jack the price up without improving quality”

I’m pretty sure you’re not supposed to put your socks in the pool, swim with a shirt on, or let your baby in the water with a regular diaper.

Gross.

However, NONE of this is worth calling the cops over. None of it. The neighborly thing to do would be to offer to lend him a pair of flip-flops, or something.

You know,

Racists have lost a ton of jobs & gained terrible infamy, yet the next one will still be too stupid and lustful for black pain to curb that shit.

And again...

Co-signed.

AS the son of a naturalized citizen, all I can say is:

Paraphrasing from a dirty hippy commenting on the Huckabee dining inconvenience:

Yes, agreed that elections matter and that Americans generally suck at it... but the GOP are also doing everything in their power to strip voters of their rights and make it harder for people to voice their displeasure with this single mechanism.

I’ve been saying “Iowans better like eating soy and seed corn, because we’re about to have an abundance of it as these tariffs hit hard.” Also, our governor is a Trump enabler and isn’t listening to anyone telling her that tough times are ahead for our farmers because of his trade war. People are already talking about

It does have a feedback system. It’s called elections.

This thread pretty much says it all for me (twitter link follows my screenshots):
