I hope that Google can do this at a wallet-friendly price. I can't see this taking off if it continues to follow Apple's bone-headed pricing strategy for magazine subscriptions.

@Edd White: Then you might as well buy a Galaxy S without a contract! 3G without cellular calls would bring the price down a bit and (especially in the US) make the product a lot more affordable without a contract (I'm assuming Samsung could strike up a deal for pay-as-you-go data).

If Samsung puts a SIM card slot in it (just for 3G, no cellular calls), it would be a very interesting iPod touch competitor.

@BrknPheonix: *mumble mumble* "I'll set your theatre on fire

@Cole_N_Reamer: Agreed. Hopefully, it's just a test build and the manufacturers will roll out Gingerbread at the time of launch (although it probably won't happen with Samsung anyway).

I don't need an app to be bald, thank you very much. That's happening naturally!

Just tried out the 2.3 launcher on my Nexus One. I can't believe that Google still hasn't caught up to the awesomeness that is LauncherPro yet. Why can't (or should I say haven't?) Android engineers use the GPU to make the UI visually smooth?

@Slinkytech: Wouldn't the screen be too big? According to user reports, even the Galaxy Tab is a bit too big for comfortable Swype use. I can't imagine using the app on a 10" screen (unless Swype comes out with a half screen keyboard, which probably wouldn't fit with Apple's design aesthetic in the first place)

@immumo: If you require just the English or Spanish keyboards, you can download the 2.6MB version of the file. That saves a ton of space.

I've seen Lindt products that already have that kind of packaging minimalism. For one, Sprungli's Gavrettes' (sp) - those praline filled chocolate cigars - packaging doesn't have extraneous detail too.

@joncoffee: Seconded. It's a timeless piece of jewellery that I couldn't do without (pun intended).

Is this guy trying to be the next Bruno or something? If he is, he shouldn't quit his day job anytime soon.

@presto117: Maybe so, but I'd like to see the benchmarks to confirm my hypothesis.

Once Gingerbread comes out for the Nexus One, I'd love to see a speed comparison between the two. The Nexus S isn't THAT big an upgrade compared to the Nexus One in my mind (only the screen, FFC and NFC chip stand out), but I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

Technically, he's not donating "everything", just the "vast majority" of his wealth. I think he'd be pretty broke if he did the former.

@sweetelectro: But what else would you be wearing it for? Most people don't really wear watches just to tell the time anymore. You can't possibly plug a pair of earphones into your watch and waltz down a crowded street. Or can you?

Sorry, but I still can't imagine wearing an iPod nano watch. In my opinion, watches have been reduced to relatively fancy jewelry with the advance of cellphones. I'd rather spend a bit more and have a classic leather/metal watch instead of a watch shaped MP3 player with a plastic wrist strap.

@RutgerHauer: Well, if you mean Nokia hardware build quality, then definitely. Nokia's hardware specs as of late have picked up, but still trail far behind Android and iOS devices.
