This is exactly why I will never, join a marque specific club or frequent a marque specific forum. These types of people ruin the fun of being a car enthusiast by being a brand enthusiast.

Let me ask the converse: is it fair to dislike a car company because of your experiences with their products? As in, “I will never buy a __________ ever again because of the one I had that totally shit the bed and made me miserable”

I’m not talking about project cars that never worked out, I’m talking about new cars

Don’t forget this gem.

It’s like if someone says “Bridgestone are great tires.” No, the RE71R is great, but the RE92 is pure unadulterated crap. A blanket statement shows either a lack of knowledge or a refusal to accept nuance.

pretty sure every county in America has that one exact douche.

Serious answer: Nobody you want to hang out with.

Sure, it still stands out a bit by having the only flat-four or flat-six engines you can buy outside of a Porsche, but the rest of the car has gotten so generic and bland that even that detail only serves as a sad reminder of what once was, and, even worse, I bet most of the buyers of new Subarus wouldn’t know a boxer

I bought a 2017 Legacy 3.6R for my mother, it’s hardly a ‘meh’ car, and pretty quick. It’s like the GOOD version of the Camry and Accord. It gets her around in heavy snow with no effort.

The truth is that the current Legacy is the culmination of a focus on safety that Subaru has made the center of their marketing. The last I checked, there have been no fatal accidents in the current model of Legacy. The first person to die in it will probably die of old age.

I hate how nice this looks and I hate how I kinda want one.

Counterpoint: The Fiat 500 is an 11 year old, unreliable piece of shit. Yes, that little piece of shit makes a lovely sound, but it’s still a turd. Get an Up! GTI.

I definitely consider them to be the same car. Interior and drivetrain tweaks do not equal platform changes. FCA just does things a little differently, and saves some pennies. While most automakers do mild mid-cycle refreshes with mainly exterior tweaks in between 5-6 year platform changes, FCA is keeping platforms

I’m pleased to announce we’re working on a “top fuel dragster” Challenger called the “Satan” with 8000hp.

Every airliner that goes to altitude has pressurized cargo holds. It would be an immense amount of engineering work to only pressurize the passenger half of an airliner, since the circular cross-section of the entire fuselage is a much better pressure vessel than the D-shaped passenger compartment.

If flight attendants—who are the authority figures in this situation—were insisting that the dog be placed in the bin...

LOL @ Jag-Wagon.

“We had autonomous horses, we need to go back to that! Think of all the jobs for stablehands we’ll be creating!”

I’d like to see some kind of technical analysis of the problem, the attempted solution, and maybe a proposed solution that actually works, preferably from someone with comprehensive knowledge of automotive cooling systems. Does Jalopnik have somebody like that, maybe someone who used to work as a cooling system

lolwut

Toyota seems to be adding most of these features as standard equipment now. Other manufacturers - not so much.
