Seems weird the beta is only for Android. I’m assuming that’s due to the wide hardware and OS variance in the Android ecosystem that involves a lot more debugging and such.

I genuinely appreciate that you took some good information from this fairly misguided and intentionally controversial article.
Yeah really they could open a whole side studio to do remakes and perpetually just be updating the tried and true formula for modern consoles. Would we ever get tired of having a modern Vice City or Bully remake? Probably! But there’s big bucks to be made in the meantime.
While we’re on the subject of remakes, how bout a full remake of Vice City or San Andreas, Rockstar? Use the GTA V engine, expand the map (or don’t it’s fine) and add any needed QoL improvements, and rake in the cash. It’s almost too easy.
Uh no, and I never insinuated that emulators should be made illegal either. I already mentioned it but I have zero issue with people pirating legacy content.
Would it kill Konami to start remaking Silent Hill titles a la Resident Evil?
Absolutely, but then that’s true for most games, almost everything is easier played on a more modern platform.
Nope, I’m pretty astute at authenticating portable Nintendo games. Also helps that currently my Gamestop has a legit copy and a repro copy of Pokemon SoulSilver sitting right next to each other. The differences are obvious.
I thought your point was both amusing and pretty true. People like to pretend that emulators are only used for homebrew or to play “backups” of games they already own. 99.9% of emulator use across the board is geared towards playing pirated ROMs. And that’s a scientific fact I just came up with. I’m fine with it,…
Yeah I’m not real into repros when it comes to retro games. Might as well just get the ROM myself at that point. I don’t know if it’s typical everywhere but I can point to 3 or 4 repros being sold at Gamestop as genuine games (they don’t know any better), so they aren’t necessarily safe either.
Castlevania has been a blind spot of mine my whole life. Never touched one. I was meaning to jump in anyways so will probably do so with this collection rather than pay Castlevania tax for an original cartridge. There’s basically no Castlevania game that isn’t worth a lot.
“After my son was born, my free time to play games has gone down quite a bit,”
That thing is friggin’ sweet but at that price I’m 1000% out.
No, it clearly states backwards compatibility which is completely different from re-releases and remasters.
Similarly, frame rate drops bother some WAY more than others. No one likes the egregious issues but I’ve noticed a lot of people are much more sensitive to it than I am. I can for sure fully appreciate a buttery 60+ FPS on PC though.
Yeah basically everything that isn’t current-gen gets lumped into the retro market for me.
Are you serious? Gamecube is a retro console. Basically PS2/XBox/Gamecube are the cutoff for most sensible folks.
Given this new information, I think I’ll just sleep at night like IRL.
This impression article clearly states that it runs well. Have you seen otherwise, putting aside your experience with a previous version of the game?
So if I buy one of these Mother 3 repros on Etsy or whatever... is the fan translation any good? I’m kinda starting to think an official translation/release isn’t gonna happen, so what’s my best course of action here?
