Not excusing the dispatcher's douche-ery, but man that job must suck. You are always dealing with people at what is most likely the worst time in their life and you have to interrogate them with enough speed to get them the assistance they need.

That being said. If you've reached the point that you can no longer give

My master's degree in Journalism that is hanging on my wall is quietly weeping in the corner.

I'm wearing a T-shirt from Target and some Capri pants from old navy. I'm writing about it. OK where's my money?

I'll just leave this here.

True, wolf sanctuaries are in dire need of funding.

"snuggle more!" "I'm supposed to read for 25 minutes" "don't go!" "I need more water!" " there's a spider behind my bed" on and on! yeah my girl's bedtime is 8:30 but I'm not really done until 9:30.

15 minute delay?! You're like a half hour ahead of me.

as the mother of a wiley and energetic toddler, I have a whole other annoying association with "bedtime procrastination"

I wish. I struggle to stay up past 11. Even on weekends. If I don't get my eight hours, I am not a happy camper.

Yeah, I don't understand why we can't learn to protect ourselves for the world we're in while ALSO working for the world we wish we were in.

why do people seem to think that learning self-defense and teaching men not to rape are mutually exclusive? no one is blaming the victim if she gets rape, anything she can do to protect herself is good. also no one is blaming rape victims for not knowing self defense. we can try to teach people not to murder or

I agree, and I find this knee-jerk "if you object to this, you're slut-shaming" reaction reductive and dismissive. Visible nipples and asscrack made this dress tacky rather than tastefully sexy, and there is nothing bold or progressive about eroticized female nudity.

Agreed. I'm no pearl clutcher and if Rhianna wants to show her nipples on the red carpet, she is free to do so. It isn't going to get teen girls spontaneously pregnant. But I don't know if I would necessarily praise it as empowered. Last I checked, women being scantily clad while men are fully clothed is a pretty

Thanks for this. I thought I was the only one and couldn't come up with a way to say it without being accused of being a prude. I'm not panicked, but I don't like it.

Please. Pop stars have one purpose in life, to stay relevant. If you want to buy their line of rhetoric about empowerment then you haven't been on earth very long because it's a tired old story. Sometimes things are fun and cool and we like them even if it's shallow. Be honest about that rather than marginalizing

I am by no means conservative, but I just don't see how that dress is tasteful or lovely or feminine or anything. There's no need for it to be see through, the dress isn't enhanced by her nipple or asscrack, it's just provoking a reaction. I honestly feel like this dress would have made more of a real impression if

Wait so you actually believe that rapists don't know that rape is bad, or that they are rapists?

Can't we teach both? Obviously, men should be taught not to rape, but that's not going to work in every case. How is teaching women to keep themselves safe a bad thing?

thats what i tell my motorcycle students. i tell them not to bother with taking safety precautions because the car drivers should really be paying attention to you. if they hit you, they just need to be taught not to run into motorcycles
