I’d also add that Nathan’s background is in improv - Seth Rogan raves about how Nathan would be relatively quiet in an improv scene and then would bring the house down with the perfect line. So it’s not unreasonable to think he’s simply confident in his abilities without it being scripted.
It’s nuts that so few reviews I’ve read of this focus on the humor, or view the humor as incidental. This episode was chock full of belly laughs for me, especially when he incepts Kor the trivia answers (“It’s moments like these I curse the Chinese for inventing gunpowder”). I get that the deep introspective stuff is…
So did Tramell Tillman!
Britt Lower absolutely deserved a nod for Severance.
When Steve plays Vecna’s ribs like a xylophone, he strikes the same rib twice in succession, yet he produces two clearly different tones
Eddie with the one-man rock concert in the Upside Down was a top 5 moment for the entire series for me. That. Shit. HIT!!!
“And Will’s striking speech to Mike (Finn Wolfhard) in the car lets Schnapp finally showcase his range”
Max’s story was the highlight of the season. It was much more poignant than I expected it to be. Just because it isn’t happy doesn’t make it ugly.
Steve is two days away from retirement and ready to sail on the SS Live Forever with his six nugget family. I’m sure he’ll be fine
Name a season of any TV/Streaming series that has used music better than S4 of STs? Greys has had moments, *maybe the closest*, when Grey’s was at its peak, it did music WELL. A lot of shows had moments, but nothing like what STs does, or has done, to push huuuuuge dramatic moments and use music to drive it home.…
I have very conflicting feelings about this show, but I don’t think I can watch it anymore after last season. The dialogue, acting, and visuals are all so top notch it’s hard not to be intrigued. I just don’t think they’ve really told a coherent story in any season, and it’s only gotten more convoluted as they go. I…
Labeling her actions homicide is just lazy in my opinion.
Sally didn’t need to channel her past experience to fly into a murderous rage—contemporaneous events (i.e., getting mercilessly strangled by a stranger) and a will to live were sufficient reasons for her violence. Labeling her actions homicide is just lazy in my opinion.
I dunno if Barry’s going to prison.
They can’t really tie him to any of the murders he’s committed, even Janice’s. There’s been no evidence and the rest is hearsay and conflicting testimony.
The most they’re going to get him on is attempted murder. I can see a good attorney making it look like Barry was set up by…
One thing I noticed in terms of theme is that everyone who sought Barry for revenge failed to get it (and all in a different way, including one person just quitting out). The person who sought Barry for justice succeeded.
Barry notably didn’t kill Ryan, the Chechens did. definitely feels noteworthy that the one relative of the person Barry didn’t kill, Ryan’s dad, saves Barry instead of killing him
Anyone else notice how Natalie’s show shamelessly panders to BanShe’s algorithm? The BanShe rep said that people were more likely to watch the whole show if the season starts with someone eating a dessert and if it incorporates Central Park.
I’ll be honest here: I didn’t remember who Ryan was, and I had to look him up. Good thing the writers keep track of everyone Barry has killed in this show, because I certainly don’t, especially when it’s been over 4 years since season one.
Between this show and Better Call Saul, we are very, very spoiled. Barry walking through the clothing store saying all that outlandish shit into his phone at top volume was the funniest shit ever. Cutting to Sally finishing reading his text as it got more and more bizarre with the bad talk-to-text translations felt…
