It wouldn’t be that hard. XD could use nvidia hairworks make some fuzzy stuff like in far cry 4's animals. Or just use a bunch of flat transparent textures bunched together like most games still do small foliage. I could model decent low poly pubes.. but that’s silly haha.

I first came across this in 1992, on Megatraveller 2 for the Amiga of all things.. So it’s not that recent. :D
This has been happening in games for a long time. MegaTraveller 2 on the Amiga came with a disclaimer about their use of red crosses in 1992. My memory’s hazy but I think they rushed to edit them out but the manual and game might have referred still referred to it’s original form.
