It’s been many years since I last played, but I believe she was involved in the story past her own side quests.  Plus one of the DLCs was dedicated to her.

She ruined 2 for me as well. I did stick with the game because I had friends who were playing it too, but I did not put in the kind of hours that I did on the original. I thought he rest of BL2 was pretty great though. Handsome Jack was an excellent villain.
