If you haven’t already, you should check out The Red Parts (by Maggie Nelson) where she talks about how white women’s deaths are always press fodder. Her aunt was a serial killer victim, and the book speaks pretty frankly about how nightly true crime shows won’t cover African-American murders.

I’m not a true crime fan, but I agree that the public obsession with the Jonbenet case has always felt gross and exploitative. And honestly I find it pretty shameful that the show is calling out Burke on national network TV. Could he be the real killer? Sure, but if he isn’t, then they’re just inciting the

It’s gross and I feel bad for this kid being made to look like a child murderer when he was only a child himself.

I think it’s partially the pageant aspect, but also because the facts of the case are just so bizarre. The fact that her body was found in her own home, the ransom note, the parents’ odd reactions to things...

I think it’s the completely bizarre elements of the case. Like the ransom note, which was unlike any the FBI had ever seen before, or since, and the fact that she was a pageant girl and looks like a 25 year old showgirl in every photo we see of her.

I’m with you. Love true crime, but this coverage is gross.

Also, the Gizmodo homepage could be snazzier.

Oh please, people have kids because they want kids, not to serve the greater good of society.

Ok, so I had a bunch of white people telling me how minorities should vote for Bernie because he’s obviously so good for us and why can’t we just realise that??!!

JFC. Democrats are being handed this election to them on a silver fucking platter, and they want to set it on fire. Support your candidate, don’t denigrate the other, and whoever wins the nod, vote -D. It’s really not that fucking hard.

There were 2 reasons I chose our pediatrician, and it was based on negative Yelp reviews.

Dude’s got 99 problems and Kens are two.

I am fucking LOVING Jezebel taking over Deadspin...like...beyond what is reasonable.

Congrats on coming out. Big day for you. We’re all here for you. <3 and all that.

Relax, no one is trying to take over your dumb car blog.

*clears throat*

It’s simple, really.

1/2 situations in which Men use the toilet require the seat to be down (unless you shit standing up, which...is just impressive)

2/2 situations in which Women use the toilet require the seat to be down.

Therefore 3/4 times the toilet seat needs to be down.

edit: holy fuck people I’m not saying Men

And we are already off to a FLYING start.
