But how does it compare to the Rick and Morty Dota 2 announcements?

Corks?

The LEGO Ideas Adventure Time set is probably one of the crappest sets that’s come out of the initiative so far. Characters like Jake are horrendously designed, the grey socket joints stick out like a sore thumb, and with the exception of maybe BMO and Lady Rainicorn, none of the other figures can be practically used

They’ve been pretty good with getting the original voice actors to reprise their roles (or at least use archival sound from films) so who knows? Maybe we’ll get the original actor back. If they can get Michael J Fox to reprise his role, anything’s possible.

It’s a shame that Lego hasn’t really done much with these new IPs. I’d love a range of Sonic or Adventure Time sets, but Dimensions seems to act more as a unifying aesthetic than a gateway to something that actually plays to the strengths of the toy.

I’m still dealing with the whole ‘more than 48 million subscribers’ thing.

Yes, Lego is the cause of both joy and heartbreak in roughly equal measures.

If it’s any consolation, LEGO and websites like Brickset keep pretty comprehensive archives of set instructions. So if you could be bothered to source the parts, it’s certainly possible to get these sets again... or approximate older designs.

I approve of this trend of keeping back some pertinent plot details for the actual release. Long may it continue.

Unfortunately most old sets will use parts (mainly hinges and special parts like monorails) and colours that simply aren’t manufactured anymore. They’d take some redesigning to be made available nowadays. There have been some occasional rereleases of old sets, but these are few and far between.

Bring back Tom Kenny for Spyro! Or Carlos Alazraqui.

I wonder if we’ll see a corresponding LEGO Dimensions pack as a result of this set. We got them for Back to the FutureDoctor Who and Ghostbusters, after all.

Unfortunately I believe that set was rejected. We DID get an amazing fishing shop out of that round of projects, however.

I won’t be choosing Popplio, but that’s only because I believe I’ll have a kickass water Pokemon with the Ash-Greninja anyway.

One thing that stands out to me is how stilted and awkward the character animation looks. I get that you could construe it as part of the paper aesthetic, but it’s pretty jarring when you compare to the smooth animation in the Gamecube & Wii titles.

Wait, so if that’s the case, why haven’t LEGO rolled out minidolls to the rest of their lineup?

To be honest I find the crappy set designs of this range a far more egregious sin than the minidolls. Which, admittedly, I also dislike.

And Elizabeth Banks, I believe. It’s pretty cool when you consider they only got them for one line.

In Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, you play as a ghost that can avert the deaths of people around you by travelling through time. The woman, Lynne, dies several times in the course of the game and strikes up a bit of a rapport with you. Given how often you save/interact with her, it kind of makes sense she’d rely on

I think it’s difficult to castigate Katie Tiedrich on this score. I mean, Ghost Trick is a game begging to be made fun of, and while it’s possible the comic could be taken badly out of context, I also think it’s unlikely anyone outside of the target audience will come across it.
