Strangely enough, Genshin Impact is a MUCH better comparison than any games the OP compared it to. Destiny, FFXIV and Halo multiplayer are people sharing a common world where Genshin and Elden Ring are people joining someone else's single player world. All that to say great comparison.

They’ve said that the setting is Asian/African but the players making the decisions and the DM don’t have a clear enough view of the cultures that the story…

And that’s kinda the point of this article. The players don’t know how to interact with this setting because they don’t know anything about it so what’s the point of using that setting?
