You might first want to contact your carrier and see if they'll give you a microcell access point (you plug it into your internet connection and it creates a signal) for free. Sprint for example has one called the Airave, we got it for free w/ no monthly charges.

I have one of those ... it's not a booster though, it's an access point (ie creates it's own signal using your internet connection), wheres the boosters in the article amplify existing outside signals.
