I see it as the same kind of mentality that has had Christianity in the US claiming persecution, despite being the overwhelming majority and holding the majority of offices of power

What the #NotAllMen chanters tend to forget is we are bombarded with stories of women being harmed or killed over shit like this. Not all people in any demographic has one particular harmful characteristic. But when you hear story after story after story of horrific shit happening because some shit stain got rejected…
#notallmen means ‘I’m not like him but I’ll condone a friend acting like a jerk’. That’s all it means.
But you know, it is all men.
The #notallmen-crowd and their little feelings and opinions can all go to hell.
I remember using that quote in response to another of the endless articles of men killing women for no damn reason, and some asshole man went on and on about how “being laughed at” was a really serious fear. As if the killing part was no biggie.
It’s something that can reveal who they may really be. An automatic defensive gesture that denotes some guilt on their part for some shit they’ve done in the past or are currently doing.
I’ve never met anyone who says “Not all men” in any of its myriad variations who is not part of the problem. Anyone who injects that into these conversations is willing to overwrite women’s experiences with their own sense of entitlement that their egos must be taken seriously.
I think about the time I posted the Margaret Atwood quote here and got flamed for days from men who thought it of vital importance that I recognize that it is #NotAllMen. They cited examples of all the times they got rejected and didn’t attack anyone (of course they didn’t get rejected very often because they were…
Wouldn’t it be amazing if this information signaled to policy leaders and decision makers that women need sufficient time off from work to have their infants reap the greatest benefits of breastfeeding?
HAHAHA. Yeah. Right. Instead it will only cause moms to feel guilty and for shitty people to shame moms for pumping…
80s kid here—that abandoned fridge thing fucked me UP for years. I couldn’t have been more that 4/5 ish when that episode aired, but “dead child in abandoned refrigerator” imprinted on my brain in a major way. Praise be to the Internets for letting my know I’m not alone in this trauma.
Just say “love.” It makes them laugh.
As a quilter and sewer I literally assumed this was going to be drama of someone using someone else’s fabric scissors on non fabric and I want you to know that in my head I thought war was FULLY justified just based on that.
Thank you so much for the work you do.
I’ve given birth twice and tore twice. I was explicit in my preference for NO EPISIOTOMY unless it was necessary to save the baby’s life or mine. I was lucky enough to give birth in a hospital that was ok with an unmedicated labor and was attended by a midwife who did things like pressing a warm towel against my…
I don’t think she’s implying that— I think she just thinks it’s OK for young teens to just be young teens and not feel like they have to be wearing crop tops and push-up bras, and that to see someone their age having a little more of a relaxed, fun approach to fashion-- rather than an overtly sexy grown-up one-- is a…
I’ve always liked Johnny Galecki because he’s David for crying out loud! plus the fact that he and Kaley Cuoco dated IRL for two years, broke up, and were able to continue working together speaks rather flatteringly about them as people.
You can have amazing people to do ALL the things with, but they don’t have to be dating relationships. That’s my entire life! I haven’t met a guy in years I’d want to keep around in ages, but I’m never at a loss for people to stay in and do nothing with, go to a museum, lecture, show, restaurant, etc etc etc. having…
Rebel Wilson is doing the same thing Jim Carrey does which is equally annoying.
Post-wine texted this to the ex-husband who keeps contacting me
