Furious? It's a word. She isn't being abused. Kids will hear people say words of all kinds, and it's up to the individual parents to decide which ones are cringeworthy. Not passersby or random internet strangers. Feel free to not find it funny, but being infuriated by it sounds exhausting and annoying to those of us

The one summer I somehow managed to get pretty tan over the course of a few months I saw a picture and was totally weirded out. It just... was not me. So now I happily embrace that I'm pink and when everyone else is burning up and miserable in the direct sunlight, I'm cool and shaded under my giant hat or umbrella

If you just scroll through without looking too closely, it's ridiculous how many women do that stupid pose with the hand on the hip, shoulder jutted out, coy look on face, etc. I don't know why it drives me so crazy.

There are always so many selfies that I forget what I was going to say by the time I get here...

Yes, yes, yes! The best part is, my boyfriend is moving in October 7th (!!!), so I won't have to be afraid to turn the lights out after each episode. If only he'd been around during the first season... #badfeminist

Well thank you for the informative response.

I ask in earnest what in the video qualifies as racist. I can maybe see the cultural appropriation, but I'm not convinced that stands either given the context of the video is, "look at all these amazing dancers and what they can do, and then there's me who just looks goofy trying." But like I said, I'm genuinely

Ok, I had no idea what all of the fuss about Benedict Cumberbatch was until last week when my roommate sat me down to watch Sherlock. At first, I was all, "No. What are they talking about? He's kind of...weird?" And then that weirdness turned into total hotness and I was like, "OH! There it is...." So I'll just go

Oh my god, this is one of my favorite movies. It's sitting on top of my stash right now...

Ugh. I still cannot look at Perez Hilton without wanting to scream. No amount of nice tweets and feel good bullshit will make up for the vile hate and nastiness he became famous for. At least to me, but I'm not in a very forgiving mood today.

That exact word just came out of my mouth.

Wow, I feel like I should have starred that like, five times. That's incredible that you got to meet him. I'm always so nervous to meet authors face to face. So intimidating, but that sounds like a really affirming, life changing experience!

This sounds really, really interesting. I will definitely check it out-thanks for the suggestion!

Ooh that one is still in my to-read pile. I read "Bluebeard" a number of years ago and it was fantastic.

I lived in the DC area when I was a baby so I have no personal memories, but my mom always says she loved it and wished she had been able to stay longer. I've visited several times and LOVE it. So much history. I have several friends that have lived in the area (both DC proper as well as Alexandria and the outskirts)

Unsolicited book recommendation time: I just started a book called, "Soldier Girls" by Helen Thorpe and it's so great. Anything with a military angle is usually difficult for me to connect with because I just don't know that much about it, but the context in this book is gripping. Basically it's about three different

Yes, I wondered why no one else has mentioned this.

Yes, when I recently listed all the reasons I'm a Bad Feminist, this song was pretty near the top...

This song keeps getting played on the radio and it's so damn catchy. I also never listen to lyrics so it wasn't until I was hooked that I realized what she was saying.

No kidding. Seems pretty clear to me that the benefit of devoting more time and resources to areas for children to play is because, unlike animals, they will one day (hopefully) grow to become productive members of society. Animals likely never will do this, as fun and cuddly as they are...
