A lot is mindset and leadership, I agree. The military has rules and people mostly follow them, and they have support and structure. But the real secret is they are not concerned with efficiency or productivity, because they have a blank check and don’t get fired for missing profit targets, so they CAN do things the

There are many big companies that require an OSHA score under a certain metric to maintain contracts. Too many reported accidents could mean a lost contract. While some businesses choose to treat that as a metric to meet through safe actions, there are plenty that treat it as a metric to hide injuries so people don’t

Rural, remote worker here, who does frequent travel for work here. An EV would satisfy a number of our needs for local duty, but would be a pretty big inconvenience and higher operational cost, all things considered, to use for work travel, or when we’re towing for recreation. Ultimately - I foresee having an EV in

But do they? From the article:

Back when I leased a Volt in 2011, some people on the automotive forum I read lost their minds. Suddenly, everyone was an ‘expert’ on CO2 emissions and whatever. Also, Total Cost of Ownership compared to a Corolla or similar.

And the fact that they started walking back those promises pretty much right after election day doesn’t seem to be bothering any of his idiotic base. They already walked back that they will make groceries cheaper. They have already come out and basically said their government austerity plans will probably hurt people,

And now, “if things escalate or otherwise go awry,” the cop can just shoot you, so that’s more convenient than dusting for prints!

“Ultimately, says Fresolone, if things escalate or otherwise go awry, the officer’s touch to the car’s taillight will have left a fingerprint in a place where investigators would know to look for it.”

“You know, one day honest citizens are going to stand up to you crooked cops!”

So I'm old enough to remember when PCs were built in the US. Then over time, they started making them overseas, made them more of a commodity, and now one of the biggest PC manufacturers is Chinese (Lenovo). In 20, maybe 30 years, who wants to bet we'll be saying the same thing about EVs? Because BYD makes some

“Above maintenance workers” hmmmm I’m not so sure of that. I know a lot of maintenance workers who just brush off smaller job injuries, and 2 who have been badly injured by machines. I know 1 former auto tech classmate who was killed working on a heavy machine during the oil boom. I'm thinking we're under reporting.

So it’s to terrify and intimidate. Like most cop behavior.

The old stereotype was “tapping” your taillight w/ the baton & saying “sir, you have a broken taillight”.

It’s not that he’s a fuddy duddy - he is, but it’s tangential to this issue. Look at his stance on crypto - when he first started talking about it, it was clear that he recognized it as basically a pyramid scheme, and his old person’s skepticism of newfangled stuff came through loud and clear. But then he discovered

Is there really anything to figure out though? In many or even most things, it’s not the technology that’s the problem, it’s the money and the will.

That is exactly how he won.  He identified cultural issues and promised everyone that he would take care of those issues.

He let the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers out of prison. He can just tell them to shoot everyone driving an EV and sales will collapse immediately.

Trump and more importantly, the Nazi goons he’s surrounded by, will do what they want by their abuse of force and through intimidation. If you think the sleazy oligarchs are lining up behind him now, wait until the first billionaire “falls” out of a window.

The idea that he was trying to do anything was laughable. They just identify wedge issues and campaign on them. Then he signs a bunch of executive orders in the first week and spends the rest of the time watching TV, golfing, Tweeting, and insulting reporters.

You’ve got to give them credit for at least attempting to have a spine, unlike a lot of corporate America who are terrified of the Y’allqueda movement in this country.
