WELL NOW YOU’VE CHANGED MY MIND

Lol right? It wasn’t “ripped from the headlines” it was “take all headlines ever and put them into one episode”

I would be shocked if there weren’t more. He’s a predator, they don’t just quit.

I am perfectly ok with them making distinctions between the documents related to the illegal surveillance and those related to legal surveillance/intelligence gathering. But, I also think his exposure of the illegal policies should be a mitigating factor in whatever sentence he receives should he return to the United

Unless there’s DNA in any of the cases, which would stop the statute of limitations, I believe it’s run out on all of them. :-(

Dude OMG it drives me INSANE when people say there’s “no evidence, just her word against his.” TESTIMONY IS EVIDENCE. In fact, in most cases, testimony is the BULK of the evidence; real life is not an episode of CSI.

I’m not missing it. I’m saying I disagree with characterizing it as such. An unconstitutional law or policy is not “legal” to begin with and I have an issue with later trying individuals for violations of said unconstitutional law. Those documents were classified under a program that was later found to be illegal.

Those policies were found to be unconstitutional, so they weren’t “legal” to begin with.

I mean, I agree. I don’t think he is a Knight in shining armor, but I also think the criminality of his actions is mitigated by what I personally believe was the necessity of what he did, and the overwhelming need for that program to be publicized. I just don’t ascribe to the “He broke the law, he’s a criminal”

That’s an overly simplistic view of things. I mean, the documents were classified because they were the result of illegal activity, and his act was only a crime because they were classified. I fail to see how that’s not relevant to how we judge his actions. Let’s not pretend that our history as a country doesn’t stand

I’ll have to consult the rule book but I'm pretty sure your vagina becomes a cactus.

LOL so my Mom, who is about as interested in soccer (and sports in general) as she is in basket-weaving, was watching the game with me and my Dad last night. She has watched the world cups with us over the years. Even she said “They seem to not roll around on the ground as much.” We couldn’t stop laughing.

Yeah I dunno, it definitely wasn’t a HUGE problem where I grew up or like the other commenter was saying it was for her, but I do remember it happening. Though it faded away by the time high school rolled around. I do remember getting teased for needing a sports bra much earlier than most of the other girls :-( Though

I remember a little of it, but it wasn’t until we were a little older and it was mostly them being made fun of for being “tomboys.”

I don’t take them for granted either, but I’m also not naive enough to think that there aren’t MANY other places in the world where people are free to do the same things we are here. America didn’t invent freedom and we certainly aren’t the only country that values it.

It can be a difficult line for sure. I think we just have to continue doing our best to balance competing rights and ideals. I tend to fall more on the “equality for all” side when it butts up against other rights, but not all people feel that way, which I can understand and respect.

If I end up there, you come visit and we get drunk and eat schnitzel together, yes??

I just looked at pictures and OMG I may book a flight there anyway just to eat there

Berlin and London are my favorite cities too!!! The job is actually in Frankfurt, which I have only passed through on the train but it looked cool enough! Mostly I just would love the chance to get to take in some german culture, explore germany as much as possible, and get to some other countries for the occasional

I often think America took its quick progression to a relatively good country in which to live (we are a REALLY young country after all) and mistook it for somehow getting ahead of the game, when in reality we were just starting to catch up to the standard that existed in a ton of other places.
