Ugh people on the Internet are so mean. OK, we would strongly encourage that they do it and explain why it is important to us. Is that better? I am not an evil HR lady I promise .. Exit interviews have been really helpful in improving certain managers, job functions, etc.

Interesting. I work in HR and we've never had anyone decline their exit interview. If they did, we would definitely insist that they do it. That said, we certainly can't force anyone to do it.
