Only certain cleaners qualify as disinfectants and we’re all presumably using them a lot more now than we previously did.

In my view, the people who are vocal about “this is no worse than the flu!”, will not be swayed by any level of reasoning. Which is ironic because “facts and reason” is what supposedly brought them to their conclusion in the first place.

I don’t know how their test ended up, but here’s what Mythbusters and research by a professional driving instructor (me) has come up with.

it also kind of smacks of “company scrip.” Not too far removed from when Wal-Mart tried to pay its employees (in Mexico IIRC) with Wal-Mart gift cards.

A couple years ago it was 10%, and back whenever I actually got a refund (thanks Trump...). I spend a couple thousand dollars a year on Amazon, it’s a no brainer to take the 10% free money that is going to be spent on Amazon anyway. Even at 4% it would be worth it.

My mistake there! Was working on something else, and dropped an iPhone pic into here instead. Changing that.  :)

I run an eGPU setup and I think I could still justify it. I could use the onboard 1650 for editing when away from the desk and then an eGPU for rendering and export.  You’re totally right, it does cannibalize the use case, but I live to enable purchases.

While I take your point, there are some second-order impacts of recycling that mean we shouldn’t just give up now. For example, more recycling increases the chances that improvements to the process will be made, making future recycling more efficient. That’s less likely with landfilling. (Consider, for example,

The link led to a paper that discusses the variation :)

Not that this is just about EUIV, but I will point out that humble bundle currently has a bundle for EUIV that’s like almost everything for $17

If this were a terrible partisan attack by the Democrats, the Republicans would be making a spectacle out of it. The only reason anything ever gets rushed through in the middle of the night is to cover it up.

Mynd you, Volkwagen bites Kan be pretti nasti...

This works great for games that have semi-complicated end-of-game scoring. I have a google sheet saved on my phone that calculates scores for 7 Wonders (which requires you to add up your points over multiple categories). Takes less time than adding everything up in your head, and wastes no paper.

We use Outlook exclusively at work and I learned about a rule that allows you to delay outgoing e-mails by x number of minutes. I have it configured to delay all outgoing messages by 2 minutes that are marked as normal priority. It has saved me a number of times from typos I see as I’m pressing send, missing

Also its an S. So on a simple cost benefit analysis a PS4 Pro vs. a Xbox One S has an obvious winner.

Any Asian dish using rice noodles usually requires they are steeped in hot water for just a couple minutes; boiling water for this is annoying and takes longer than what they actually cook for. So if you’re doing pho or pad thai or cold noodle dishes this is the way to go.

The thing is, a game or a book or a movie can’t fix anything. The best it can do is hold up a mirror that lets you see what’s wrong in the first place, but the actual fixing....that shit is work, man. Long, exhausting, grueling work.

I use the Matfer black steel ones (incidentally, they’re the ones that come with these potato/salt directions) and like them quite a bit. As with cast iron, it takes time for them to get close to non-stick, but they’re crazy responsive to heat (unlike cast iron) and generally solid. They’re industrial-ugly in a
