@lollilove: I guess it depends. I'm basing this on discussions I have had with friends of various Christian faiths. Non-of them had experience speaking in tongues though.

I don't think any religion views "speaking in tongues" as normal as "pass the salt." Even religions which believe in it, see it as a somewhat rare, respected, and revered expression of faith.
