I spy a VW Type 3 "pancake" engine so I'm calling BS on the "still powered by the original 600cc Isetta engine" line.

Auto + soft top = easy CP. Also, it has the incorrect wheels on it. Those aren't the correct DS II wheels you'd expect to find on a 1998, but are actually a set of DS I (style 22) wheels from a 1995. Fail.

I wish I could remember which of my cars this was from (maybe my '89 RX-7), but this always stuck with me. In the section describing cruise control function, it said that moving the cruise lever upward would cause the car to accelerate "at a relatively controlled rate."

Obligatory.

I'm seeing a lot of Peter Aschwanden in these illustrations.

Yup, watching TGUS destroy that Corvair in the most recent episode made me cringe. It looked really nice to begin with.

Also, a bit more info on the bug:

It made their catalog cover pre-wreck, too. (That's a '55-'57 Oval-window, by the way.)

Yeah, there are still gazillions of 3s 4s and 5s out here. 1s and 2s are getting rarer, since they're at least 20 years old now.

That would go well with my bar.

VW didn't start selling the Type 3 in the US until 1966 and even then they never imported this body style (the "Notchback"). Thanks for the kind words!

Well, as he says, " Some people have morw safisicated tastes than others."

I keep meaning to restore this car, but I just can't quite bring myself to break out the sandpaper. ('63 VW 1500)

Dear 1969 VW Beetle,

Yup, Porsche used in on 914s, too.

Ravenna Green. Seriously, can you imagine any mainstream carmaker using a color like this today?

My Volkswagen 1500 is unfamiliar with his cousin.

Stock never goes out of style.

OK, I'm not even close to being a NASCAR fan, but can someone enlighten me - what was the last NASCAR racer that was actually based on a production car?
