My wife bought a black one brand new in 1993 and drove it for 10 years and 100K trouble-free miles. It was fantastically reliable, but God help you if you got caught in a rainstorm in it. We had the updated roof seals on it, treated them monthly and yet it still leaked like a sieve.

Based on the refrigerator-style door handles and the big back window, this one's a 1958 or 1959. the Wolfsburg crest on the hood is incorrect, however - it should have the more colorful early crest. The black background crest didn't show up until 1960.

I love it! Would this bad boy have had the rear-facing tail-gunner seat? I remember as a kid we had an old Mopar wagon with one and whenever it rained, the footwell at the rear became an indoor lake. Good times.

Back in about 1990 or so, I had the misfortune of trading cars with someone for a day. They got my truck, I got a 1983 Peugeot 505 Turbodiesel. It was only 7 years old at the time, but while I had it, I honestly wondered if it would actually survive for the whole 24 hours. I was never so relieved to give a car back

The new Escalade is the first American car to be produced with a cell phone ignition interlock device. This high-tech device requires that a cell phone call be initiated before the engine will start. Hands-free and Bluetooth calls will not work, the call must be placed from a hand-held phone.

I find it amazing that it's survived 26 years on the streets without a single dent!
