Yes... that is exactly what would happen. If a Scalper can’t sell 100 NES Classics why would they buy any more? It’s basic scarcity economics. Scalping only exists when demand outstripps supply. If supply meets demand, price goes down, no point scalping anymore.

Appearances are important, as is avoiding the feeling that you’re there because a company paid for you to be there. Even subconsciously, that can influence your coverage by making you feel grateful to the company for flying you out and putting you up.

The problem is that there is no institution in place to keep a person accountable. Places like the NYT, WSJ, or LAT have long standing institutions in the form of ombudsmen, editorial boards, rules, disciplinary oversight. Oh and requirement’s that you receive a college education on topic.

I mean, it’s cool if you found a way to make money legitimately that isn’t traditional, and society definitely needs paid entertainers and artists and humorists, etc. But Christ, there’s something about Youtube “stars” and their sense of entitlement that really rubs me the wrong way.
