My friend describes it as a genre of tv she calls “competence porn”.  It’s the appeal of the heist movie - watch people do certain things well.

This being Leverage, a “Nate was faking his death all along” plotline isn’t exactly out of the question.

They didn’t just cut him, they killed off his character so he can never return. Done. Over.

I can only assume that he filed this lawsuit instead of hiring a team of ex-cons to infiltrate the production company, hack its computer system, and release all the details of the negotiation.  The latter only makes for better-than-average TV.

His country is being invaded by Russia, and he’s actively planning to return to the capitol to help it’s defense, including armed resistance.

Not guilty because the vessel was not sunk by his actions. It was sunk by the weight of his pair.

All the money in the world to buy a yacht, and the interior still looks like my grandma’s kitchen with a “everything must be brown and wood” color scheme befitting the 1970s era in which it was last renovated. 

I love that he’s out on bail, letting everybody know he’s heading home.

God, it’s so irritating that 9/10 messages are the same three jokes. The last time I played a souls game at launch was the original NA launch of demons souls. I do not remember my world being covered in worthless messages back then

Part of me wonders if FromSoft (or the localization team) knew exactly what they were doing. After years of terrible “but hole” jokes, they must know a thing or two about what will get the player-base riled up. 

My favorite so far

Nah. They wear it incorrectly because mostly they don’t want to wear one at all.

“People will be allowed to not wear a mask in indoor spaces” - that is hilarious right there, given that most places OTHER than airports and airplanes, mask usage is *maybe* 25-50% at best everywhere I have been for the past six months. And given I travel for a living, that is a LOT of places. The average barn cat…

A friend told me once that he lost a school friend to a moped accident. He came off and hit a lamp post. Was in the hospital feeling okay and then just collapsed from internal bleeding. Something to take seriously.

What a bullshit joke of a sentence. The restitution amount wouldn’t even pay for one-quarter of a new bus, were we to even engage in the fantasy that he’ll ever hold down a job to pay any restitution from.

My dad had a brain bleed once. We didn’t realize until he started having strength issues with his left side hand and foot. At the hospital a scan revealed that he had enough blood in his skull to shift the midline of his brain.

I suspect restitution will not actually happen

Good comment. Speaking for me, I’m just feeling bummed lately. I don’t think it’s representative of a change in direction, there’s just a lot of bad shit happening right now.

Rory, this is obviously a heartfelt piece and I appreciate that. As with almost everything you publish here, it’s very well done.

Tom, all three of these series of columns have been appointment reading for me the last few years. I really hope you've got another one in the works. Otherwise, I'll have to go back and start Age of Violence over again.
