No. It’s 100% on point. The films are often too focused on pew-pew space battles and big-budget VFX...often to the detriment of what makes Star Trek, well, Star Trek — exploration, character relations, the human condition, etc, etc.

Origin stories are always popular! There’s nothing quite as gripping as demystifying something that wasn’t mysterious or interesting to begin with! They should do some Bildungsroman coming-of-age stories to fill the gaps — ALL of them! — in Star Trek history.
