I mean if anyone ever wants to host a Pride week dinner party (with a Wizard of Oz theme maybe?) they’d be perrrrfect. :) And thanks! <3
Oh I’ve totally used mini binder clips on layers of slippery stuff! But yeah, trying to maneuver the presser foot around them is even worse than pins, ugh. A lot of the time it’s easier to just tape the edges together with masking tape (comes off easily, doesn’t generally leave residue, and you can even sew through it…
Thank you! As I was painting it (I just did a couple as “prototypes” so I could shoot them for the shop and then make them on demand later) I was pretty sure this was a bad baaaaad idea -- but they turned out WAY better than I expected! And no, the soup doesn’t taste banana-y at all! Two smallish bananas in at least…
Yeaaah, I’m kinda itching to have people over, too — but it’s gonna be a while. Alabama started off doing pretty okay, and we were middle-of-the-pack in cases per 1mill for a long time. Now we’re seventh-worst. :( I can’t even remember the last time I left the house, or saw another human other than bf, his kid, the…
Yep, and that’s the ... [hang on I’m counting] 29th color variation I’ve done! When you’ve got sixteen colors of felt and basically unlimited bamboo, dye/stain, and spray paint, things get out of hand quickly. :D
Ha, believe me, I get it — they’re honestly a little “too much” for me, but I figure somebody else might love them! I use silver leaf on silver/grey, and copper leaf on cobalt/ultramarine, and the dyed teal here, all of which work much better with the rest of our decor.
“WHEEEEEEEEE!” :D
I guess maybe I just don’t typically work with fabrics that really demand pins? And the last time I had to stitch two fussy and difficult layers together, they were big netting so pins would’ve have done a damn thing anyway (I ended up masking-taping those bastards together along their edge -- worked great, no…
Aw, ty! And omg YES, an avocado would probably have worked great as well! And I’ve been meaning to experiment with avocado in hot recipes too! Well, next time...
Yeah we had just gotten a new box of salt and for whatever reason it poured way WAAAAY faster than the old one, so then you have the dilemma of “do I really want to try to scoop wet nasty salt off the top of my laboriously constructed soup or just correct it later if needed? Eh, it’ll be fine.” (It was not fine, as I…
It WILL be fun, but extra-challenging because the limiting factors (needs to be easy to sew, durable, get sealed with ModPodge or similar without going wonky, etc) immediately knock a lot of the crazier stuff in my stash off of the possibilities list. Also I want to do it because honestly I’d just really like to get…
HA, no and imo that’s a huge missed opportunity.
Plus it’ll be fun picking crazy-ass fabrics out of my hoard to complement them! And agreed, “adorable” isn’t really my wheelhouse — the shop tends to run more “oh neat” to “wtf, that is bonkers.” I’m also figuring out the ideal process to make glittery papier-mache christmas ornaments that look like halved avocados…
Oh that’s ideal! We were gonna do that (or try, not a whole lot of options nearby) when we had to get a new fridge last year, but we ended up finding a pretty good one online for a fairly reasonable price, and bf found the store’s aggressively Christian branding/messaging absolutely hilarious, so.
You really can’t! Granted, they were smallish bananas, going into 6-7 quarts of soup, which also contained five roasted vidalia onions and two entire bulbs of roasted garlic plus a truckload of fresh ginger and pepper (along with the aforementioned salt). I usually end up adding a little sugar to it anyway to punch up…
NO you are EXCITED! Excited and vibrating with JOY, not nerves, AT ALL. WOO! YOU’VE GOT THIS!
Buying a new washing machine is THE WORST. They’re all so freaking over-engineered now! Digital this, computer-controlled that, all kinds of code and widgets THAT WILL FAIL. When I had to get a new one a few years back, I got overwhelmed by all the choices (and the price tags) and just said screw it and went with the…
Ty! It is VERY gratifying to make something new and different! I doubt I’d use the rainbow placemats in my own dining room, but they’ll be perfect for somebody, somewhere. Tomorrow I’m going to try to start figuring out how to incorporate vintage album sleeves into fabric-based notebook covers bc WHY NOT?
Oh man, now I want to try making my own pita! I made a pretty bomb carrot-ginger soup the other day, and then promptly fucked it up by oversalting it. No additional carrots to put in there to knock it back down to an acceptable sodium concentration (nor any squash, nor zucchini, used the last onions in the soup, used…
