Because the writers on this site pick and choose their moral high ground based on economics. They know that a headline with Simmons’ name will get clicks, and they don’t care about the consequences. Now this will be one of the top hits on Fuentes’ name for the rest of his life, potentially damaging his prospects…

Laura is one of my favorite writers here, but this piece just struck me as shitty. I’m usually wrong though and I’m sure she rightfully does not give af about my opinion.

It’s pretty clear this entire trilogy was sketched out before they began. Abrams might have worked with a different tone than Johnson, but his story was meant to set up the next one, and so on. Disney did not just have a blank slate for the next two directors to write on.

Given how customary it is to make outlines describing key story beats for a planned trilogy, I doubt that Abrams is surprised by any essential story bits.
