I’m glad they called an audible and wrote her in. Here’s how I feel: there’s no way to do the Karen Page of the comics in any fashion that isn’t terrible and demoralizing re: an actress and a character we’ve come to care a lot about. Why not just let the comics backstory go entirely in the service of giving a

Given that Karen’s appearance here was a result of the showrunner clocking the chemistry of the two together, I’ve decided I’m on board with them doing more things that just come out of organic storytelling. I’m all for pursuing what works without being chained to the source material. They’ve got a much more

I too am both a liberal and a gun owner/CCP holder. My views are nuanced and have even changed and shifted over time. I’m definitely not asking for the gun-control guy to be unequivocally “right” but when you have two sides to an argument and one is voiced by a series regular and the other is voiced by a random

I think part of my annoyance is well outlined by Siede in her review of the previous episode - in any kind of debate between Ori and Karen, Ori carries no weight against a known character. And I feel like the show does indeed try to indicate that Ori is being a hypocrite by hiring armed security - though I agree with

Yeah, Senator Strawman dragged this episode down in a couple ways. The way they set up a Rashomon that had his humiliation as its only purpose was just bad and weak and an insult to Rashomon rip-offs everywhere (even the lame Star Trek ones). I particularly loathed the way Karen and Madani got to have interview

He kidnapped her and put the gun on the table, anything that happens after that is either bad for Karen, or bad for Wesley.  Karen made the right choice.

It’s not even that Rashomon-y since the Senator’s flashback is literally the only one that’s implied to be inaccurate. So it’s less ‘different versions of the event’ and more ‘exactly what happened plus one guy who’s lying to make himself look good.’

Sounds like you have experience slapping women and ignoring them when they say no.

I don’t think the argument is really about whether or not he should, but whether the show wants us to think about it. I thought it did, for a second or two when it showed the faces of the soldiers who were being cut down, but I read it as Siede reads it: sometimes the show starts to do it, then backs away entirely.

Without being a Punisher nerd with a regard for canon, I’d say that I’d rather have an interesting character than a particularly badass one. A character with no connections to any other characters is a character without life, that can’t carry a story. Granted, Punisher in general might not be interested in character

I think it’s way better as a thriller style story than ‘Frank Castle kills everyone’.

“You have no idea who I am”

HOLY HELL, YOU GUYS ARE BOTH RIGHT. There’s more than one way to parse the sentence “I don’t tip 20% no matter what”! When Schmear Campaign said it, they meant “when I tip, the server isn’t necessarily ensured 20%; if they don’t meet a minimum level of my expectations, I may tip less.” KeyserRoll interpreted it as “I

I disagree with tipping, too, so I will vote for people who want to require that (a) the tipped minimum wage be abolished and (b) the minimum wage be raised to something people can live on at a standard other than “abject, starving poverty.” And I will push my elected officials to support such ideas, as well.

But

The thing is, Americans keep saying tips are a guarantor of good service, but service in the US is far worse than in low-tip or no-tip places like Europe and Japan. What you get in the US is the fake-smile, over-friendly subservience designed to make the customer feel powerful. Actual service is, in my opinion, poor

Fuck tipping. It’s an archaic form of exploitation that exists solely to justify under-paying workers. In France, to take but one European example, the notion of tipping is unheard of. Servers are paid well. There’s no bullshit math to do. There’s no threat, of the type described above.

Yet another reason to hate these Silicon Valley socially-inadequate nerds and their attempts to hurt the working-class, either by further denigrating our jobs or by eliminating them entirely.

If Democrats are getting the same rules as Republicans, wouldn’t he be elected President? Or is there a minimum number of woman and minors that need to be assaulted first? Is Trump’s 16 the minimum? Does admitting on video to sexual assault act as a “get out of jail free and into the Oval Office” card?

And yes, he
