The kpop idol industry is especially grueling and stressful for its artists, especially because with very few exceptions they have no agency of their own. Their lives are almost entirely managed by their labels: what they can wear, where they go, who they spend time with (no dating allowed), what they should look like

Really, though, so what? Weren’t people saying the same thing about Nickleback last week? I didn’t respect that, either. If something sucks, it’s fun to make fun of them and it’s not really a case of punching-down in any socially meaningful sense, then why shut the party down just because it’s easy?

How? It's backed by science. And I didn't even need that to tell me trigger warnings are bullshit.

Let me guess...the film isn’t “woke” enough for you? Or doesn’t have enough Spandex in it?

Jesus Christ. This is pathetic. Are we going to need disclaimers for everything now?

I don’t think anyone’s saying that Weinstein wasn’t successful; just that being able to produce a box-office hit or persuade / coerce (depending on how charitable you want to be) the Academy to nominate the films he was involved with doesn’t necessarily equal a perfect razor sharp insight into what makes a good film.

He knew something about movies, but not nearly as much as he knew about industry politics, particular when it came to awards campaigns.

Nope. There are innumerable stories about Weinstein screwing up a movie by recutting it or torpedoing its release because of his self-aggrandising beliefs about how cinema should be done or simply to destroy the career of an actress who wouldn’t sleep with him or a director who stood up to him. Knowing how to raise

Hmmm, it almost sounds as though you’re implying that non-straight people are not a monolith.

As a gay man, I’d like to apologize on behalf of our community to everyone who makes an effort not to be offensive, makes a slip-up, and gets pummeled to death by every queer person within range.

That seems... super accurate based on what all the people who say they’re pansexual I’ve ever met say they’re into? Is this trans people being annoyed that by this definition bisexuality only encompasses birth-gender?

Honestly, it’s not fair criticism and it’s beyond cringe-worthy.

This site and others connected to it like Gizmodo and Kotaku were at the front of pushing these ridiculous conversations and hand wringing, so don’t try to back away from it now. You were all in on the dangers of a Joker movie a week ago.

This not withstanding, I will say that they absolutely, COMPLETELY NAILED the ‘Anything goes in Florida’ song.

Eh, as someone who identifies as bi, I find “pan” complicates the matter needlessly. Please, put down your pitchforks, I’m not telling anyone to, or not to identify as anything, just that, in my experience, the difference is fairly minimal *in practice*, and if someone is ever confused the conversation has invariably

This is why conservatives win every time.

Sure, this definition of pansexuality is terrible and offensive, but the real trick is to find one that isn’t offensive to somebody. Or to find two different definitions that are remotely compatible.

From what I’ve seen the controversy over ‘queer’ doesn’t even seem to necessarily have a generational difference: I know plenty of older people who have always described themselves as queer and younger people who see it as a slur. I mean, people were describing themselves as queer back in the 40s and 50s, it doesn’t

It’s always fun to watch shows try and tackle in single episodes topics that within LGBT+ circles have had discussions that have gone on for years and still at many times cause quite some arguments.

People were really bent out of shape over *that*?
