I don't get how the school couldn't afford to throw a prom, but the Parks & Rec Dept. could. Including even the planning, which would typically be done by volunteer students. I don't mind suspending my belief, but this just didn't make any sense.

When characters "grow" too much, especially the bad guys, it can ruin a series. MASH was never the same after Frank left, because they let Winchester (and Hot Lips) become too sympathetic.

Actually, it's been 12 years. It started with the sinking of the titanic in 1912. Which makes me wonder, how old is Isis? :)

Right off the bat I thought the movie seemed a little too fast paced. In particular, in Mal's opening dialogue, he seemed to be talking too fast and stepping a little too lively. I like the slower, more contemplative pace of the series. But I stopped noticing the difference pretty quickly — not sure if that's because

Same here. I didn't need to know that something bad is going to happen and that the movie (which I haven't seen yet) is going to be "hard to take"!

I was disappointed to discover that Kaylee found her way onto the boat by via relations with the first/former mechanic. I had always thought of her as a sweet, innocent little sister. To see her as a prairie harpie (is that the term Mal used?) was borderline heartbreaking. In the original pilot, like Donna, I thought

I don't think the hating of the Zeons is non-sensical. Dictator strongmen always need someone to hate on, to position as the cause of all the society's problems. The Zeons were perfect for that, just as the Jews were perfect for Hitler. They were outsiders, the "other." The cause of all society's ills that the dear

The pending truck collision looked so bad it makes me wonder if it wasn't supposed to be some sort of (failed) effect, made to look surreal or something. I might have to go back and look again.

I'd argue that Jax is a *failed* Christ figure. He wasn't sacrificed by others to pay for our sins, he sacrificed himself to pay for his own.He was a wanna-be Jesus who turned into Satan.

I think I read that Sutter said she's supposed to be some sort of angel, not necessarily Death. Though there was no mistaking the Grim Reaper Jax became when he donned her blanket! Nothing subtle there.

Chib's "leadership": But I think that "knowing some stuff" and being a leader are very different things. You can be the best #2 or #3 in the world for a long time and still not be cut out to be #1. I always wondered if any of the older club members would have resented Jax's rise to the presidency, being the crown

I'm not upset by it, just bored. Part of the general "these episodes are too long" complaint. Tighter editing would help a lot.

As are most of the homicides, murders, and massacres. After a while you just become immune to worrying about it, you know? What pushed me over the edge was when they killed the jail guard who killed Opie and HIS WIFE in their quiet suburban home. No repercussions on that one, no need to cover anything up, really?

I'm getting SO tired of all the gang politics. I never could keep it all straight, and now I just don't want to. It feels like such a distraction — why should I care anymore? Unless … Jax is always scheming, plotting — "trust me" he always says. I think maybe he has one last double-cross or whatever you'd call it up
