Special Election Results

I already made the Daily Health Care Post and the Election Today post. So something different. Apparently rumors are that the Democrat to challenge Senator Heller next year in Nevada will be House Rep Jacky Rosen. Rosen's currently serving her first House term, having been elected this past November http://www.politic

Special Elections: The Devil Comes Back to Georgia Edition

So my House Rep, Tom Suozzi, held his monthly Town Hall yesterday. This is the third time I've gone to one. Finally worked up the courage to ask a question at it. If anyone's interested he livestreamed it and the recording is on his Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/to…

Last week I finished Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell. Since she's reviving the Runaways comic for Marvel I wanted to familiarize myself more with her writing. Will probably check out Fangirl or Carry On at some point.

The special guest this week is Malcolm Goodwin (Clive on iZombie).

If there is something you feel should be added to the weekly reminders list, let me know. I am going to have to take some of the above off as they become irrelevant.

Supposedly one of the big factors was low turnout. Apparently a good amount of voters were just sick of the election after 7 months of it (I wonder what that would look like in America instead of the nearly 2 year long campaign in the last USA election)

Weekly Reminders

At this point I bet John Oliver's just daring New Zealand to sue him so he can make a story about it.

Second and final round of the French parliament election is today. Polling estimates say President Macron’s political party, La Republique En Marche!, could win upwards of 80% of the 577 seats. That is insane when you remember his party is barely a year old, and a majority of the people he’s running are first-time

I finally watched the '76 movie yesterday to coincide with the Watergate anniversary. It was…different from what I was expected. Mostly because it only covers the first 7 months of the scandal (up to Nixon's 2nd inauguration).

Other than Generation X, this week I read Defenders #1, which…initially confused me. It felt like I had been dropped into a story already in action. Because I had been. After reading that issue I found the Free Comic Book Day Defenders promotional story and read that, which did indeed set up the "first" issue. This

Collins and Murkowski would be the two I'd guess were most likely to vote no on the bill, though they could of course flip and vote yes if they're promised something in return.

My favorite moment from the issue was when the characters were moving a mop bucket on wheels and commented "Why are there so many staircases but no ramps in this school when it's named after a guy in a wheel chair?"

From the sound of it, the bill is nearly finished being written. They're mostly now just focused on getting the 50 votes they need.
