The Fit Kit Handmade logo is spot on for Best Made, New York City's finest purveyor of $300 axes, which are very useful in New York City, and the rest of the ad is all downhill from there:
I'm shopping for a 2002 at the moment. Almost a sedan, 2100lb.
At least you get 3 extra seats that way. 2002 is so versatile!!
Source: I, like Edward Norton's character, work for a major automaker. Unlike him, though, I've seen absolutely no one at any level in the company that puts profit first. Everyone, in every level of the company, puts safety as the top priority. Are all companies like mine? No. Is your stance oversimplified? Yes.
Get a Sienna!
The older base-model V6 Siennas could light up the tires in 2nd gear, as well. I love the Sienna.
Yes.
The thing about Sunbeam Tigers is that they have such immense grip that they squeal their tires on all road surfaces, even gravel. Also, hearses immediately explode into a terrifying fireball when they drive off a cliff.
Even refreshes are very, very expensive. As much as I wish they would do it, I think that sadly there's not much chance for it to happen.
I know I was pretty harsh at the end of my post, but things get very serious very quickly when talking about safety in my office. So while Fight Club is very entertaining and Edward Norton is very convincing, the idea it propagates is pretty damaging to those of us who work actively to do exactly the opposite. I can't…
Could they steal enough sales to justify the cost of an entire vehicle and entire engine development project? I think not.
As a follow-up, here's an article worth reading regarding the Pinto case:
Ignoring the first paragraph, that Fight Club reference is so, so overused in these situations, way oversimplified, and simply wrong. That scene was entirely Chuck Palahniuk doing a "look how smart I am I know about the Pinto and I'm a manly-man guy who knows about car parts!!!111one!!" or at least him poking fun…
This. Is. Perfect.
On this day in 1941, workers start clearing trees from hundreds of acres of land near Ypsilanti, Michigan, some 30 miles west of Detroit, in preparation for the construction of the Ford Motor Company's Willow Run plant, which will use Henry Ford's mass-production technology to build B-24 bomber planes for World War…
Oh, absolutely Tesla is handling this much better than GM, but the feeling I get is that they're more opportunistic than truly putting their customers first. But I work for a more traditional manufacturer, so my view is skewed such that I think that a product should be launched without issues, as much as possible.…
Tesla is still reacting, to all of the media attention. It's easier for them, as you point out, but they're still being reactive. They're capitalizing on the opportunity to make themselves look better than others (which works, based on your response/attitude). Good on them, regardless.
Florida has the worst of everything on the road. Each state has their share of bad drivers, usually one strong characteristic in each state — Florida gets the worst of each state and mixes them all together with the elderly and those whose brains have melted from so much sun. I've been driving probably 20,000 to…
Oh wow, a lot like The Uphill at Lime Rock, then. Might sound silly, but I've been doing a lot of iRacing lately (that's this week's track in the Skip Barber series), and it's a sweeping uphill left that levels out at the top. With the wrong line, wrong car placement, and wrong throttle/steering, you WILL spin off to…
