Tesla is the one that put their patents on the internet. They want people to copy them. Their technologies... all of it.

I still don't understand why direct sales are such a sticking point, and why the auto makers are so against it. Tesla will not take that big of a bite, especially from GM, Ford, or Chrysler. People that want a Tesla will end up getting one anyway, and aren't in the market for an all electric Focus or a Volt...
