Usually, you have to earn the "Staff" designation by beating Chang in a canned-cheeseburger eating contest. I'm a vegetarian, so we still haven't worked out how to handle this.

I went back and forth on that one, but as McCarthy plays the title character, I thought maybe that counted. But see? You have to really stretch even to get to four movies out of forty with female leads.
She's starring in Divergent, based on the first book in a popular teen lit series. Dystopian future, lead character tries to break society's rules, etc. I'm not familiar with the book beyond that, but it's being touted as a Hunger Games successor. Whether you think being the lynchpin of that franchise is a good or bad…
Damn it! I forgot to include a mention that, in one of the linked articles, Lindelof refers to the movie as "Prometheus-er". He's been reading our running gags!
Wow, there's something I can never unsee. Definitely going on the list.
I was working in a bookstore, years ago, and we had a picture of Joyce up on the wall. One day a boy of maybe 5 or 6 came in with his dad, pointed up at the picture and said, "Look, Daddy! A pirate!"
What? I got Grandma a personal assistant when she turned 85. Is that not how you're supposed to do it?
You know, I knew that was weird when I wrote it. But "hyphenate" is a word used to describe somebody with a lot of jobs, yet we list those jobs with slashes. So don't blame me, man, blame society!
I feel like I have to do this for a few months before I can ask @avclub-6f611188ad4a81ffc2edab83b0705d76:disqus for permission to use the Big Red No. And I'm pretty sure I'll get (and deserve) a Big Red No by way of a response.
High praise indeed! I've been reading for many years, studying at the feet of the master.
Interesting side note I didn't have room for in the article: Giamatti's father is Bartlett Giamatti, former commissioner of baseball. Pohlad's father owns the Minnesota Twins. (Cusack was in Eight Men Out. It kind of falls apart after that.)
Sorry, fixed now. This is the first time in my life I've ever had to differentiate between Rick Astley and Rick Springfield, and I'm okay with that. Less okay with making a mistake my second day on the job; sorry about that.
I could have phrased that better.
I just mean that pocket in between all of those where the housing projects and the canal (and the Bell House) are. That may be the last non-gentrified place in the borough west of Bed-Stuy.
Hoboken's worse than the neighborhood the Bell House is in - at least it's got the stinking, toxic Gowanus Canal to keep rents down…
