Presumably because the Veyron is pretty much designed to be the ultimate luxury car wherein ultimate is interpreted as fastest, and the Venom is designed to be a crazy man go real fast machine. While it is technically a production car, the Venom is, in many ways, a Frankenstein hot-rod.

Both are status symbols, but I think of the Venom GT as the "I bought something crazy fast" and the Veyron SS as "I bought something crazy expensive.
