Colorism is definitely an issue worth discussing but it was kinda weird to see the title next to the movie poster with a prominently-featured Black actor.

> Nick Denton is a fucking hack who should never again be allowed near a media outlet of any size, shape, or form.
I think there is an interesting discussion to be had about what he’s apparently trying to do here (Haven’t watched it yet). Is he mocking or agreeing? The cross imagery makes me thing it’s more of the former but...tbd
Not an airport, no need to announce your departure folks.
Smart move to basically be the one owning the narrative rather than reacting to a Twitter callout from randoms.
Titus Burgess responds
“If Manchin can’t be successfully primaried (and of course, for that candidate to get a win), then Democrats need several more Senate seats “
I’m sure the quality of the show will remain the same after he leaves. And by that i mean it will continue to be a terrible show but hopefully a better experience for people of color that decide to subject themselves to this.
What was the issue exactly? I’d say the response was probably as over the top as the initial “hot take” and the fact that they embellished the fuck out of the story
Good breakdown of the shitty passive aggressiveness of that sentence
Yep, that seems more like an apology than whatever Chrissy Teigen posted (for a pretty fucked up thing she did vs what Ellie Kemper did)
Ellie Kemper just issued an apology for going to a ball with a “racist past” (not for being a KKK princes because that was a bag of bullshit) so we’ll see if it’s good enough for the usual suspects
Zsa Zsa did slap the shit out of that cop one time so there’s that.
I can’t imagine this was good for your mental health tho...you could have tried to opt out (but then one of your fellow writers would have gotten stuck with it).
I disagree that being an elite sports people is only about playing tennis and the rest is bullshit. Media, endorsement, etc, all part of the gig at the highest level. Where I’m agreeing with you is that should the player want to opt out or minimize those extra engagements should not interfere with their playing…
Looks like she issued an apology after all. Awaiting further instructions.
I haven’t read the article, just wanted to say this made me burst out laughing in the middle of a work call.
Yes.
Playing tennis at the highest level has media obligations so Jay’s comment is not inaccurate. It’s not just Nike endorsement photo shots.
That’s four-time Slam champ!
