Ellie Kemper just issued an apology for going to a ball with a “racist past” (not for being a KKK princes because that was a bag of bullshit) so we’ll see if it’s good enough for the usual suspects

Zsa Zsa did slap the shit out of that cop one time so there’s that.

I can’t imagine this was good for your mental health tho...you could have tried to opt out (but then one of your fellow writers would have gotten stuck with it).

I disagree that being an elite sports people is only about playing tennis and the rest is bullshit. Media, endorsement, etc, all part of the gig at the highest level. Where I’m agreeing with you is that should the player want to opt out or minimize those extra engagements should not interfere with their playing

Looks like she issued an apology after all. Awaiting further instructions.

I haven’t read the article, just wanted to say this made me burst out laughing in the middle of a work call.

Yes.

Playing tennis at the highest level has media obligations so Jay’s comment is not inaccurate. It’s not just Nike endorsement photo shots.

That’s four-time Slam champ!

True. At this point she should focus on grass. But again, she seems quite content with playing, as long as she’s healthy.

I agree that the particular poster you are responding to has concocted this scenario that frankly does happen but I don’t believe has happened to her and not what Osaka is objecting to. She just seems to dislike press conferences in general and gets anxiety from doing them, rather than objecting to any specific line

Surprised to hear about the intra-cast conflicts but not so surprised at the producer’s shenanigans. I’m still looking forward to watching the final season.

Texas is trash (sorry Austin). Glad I moved out.

If that “thin” comment had been directed at say, Simona Halep, the shade alert would be on high.

I get all that. Just sad to see your sports idols looking so mortal but that’s the cycle of sports.

Sad to see Venus crash out the way she did at this tournament. Seems she’s happy with the way her career is these days but her results have been pretty rough as of late.

Coco Gauff says what’s up

“A racist past”? I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt that you were not the one that came up with that dumbass headline because after reading the article, that is a stretch. The article almost reads like parody.

Yea, cancel culture is definitely a thing that exists. It’s not quite the boogeyman that conservatives make it out to be, but it’s definitely there, as this weak-sauce article demonstrates.

Refusal is a great thing to paraphrase Breya Johnson. Unlike Naomi, a lot of us are not in the position to refuse work.
