It is very much geographical as you would suggest. By the numbers the Tesla Model S is not a very popular car yet I see probably 5 - 10 a day in LA. Back in Chicago I'd see one a week, maybe.

Do you realize how little residential areas are policed simply because the "return on investment" isn't great? People know that the the cop is going to sit on the main thoroughfare where there are hundreds of cars passing through versus sitting on the side street where one car might come through a minute. And…
Do you understand how tax deductions work? Let's say he's in the highest bracket, you're saying that he donates $100 so he can take a $40 deduction on his taxes... It's a common argument about big corporations from people that have absolutely no understanding of the tax system. Nobody would spend $100 to get $40…
The two cars are just so completely different. The W Body is a torque monster from the factory. For it's time it was an amazing car, many of which were capable of low 14 second 1/4 mile passes right from the factory. The W body's downfall is a GM interior and the fact that no matter what you do to the suspension…
It's amazing to look at the contrast between Fisker and Tesla. On one hand you have a company that realized that in order to convince people to buy their product they were going to have to create a compelling vehicle that made no compromises and is in many ways better than an internal combustion equivalent. On the…
Maybe I missed the joke but it's clearly a 2011+ XJ.
Yeah it was definitely a currentl model. They've been out for long enough without stories of them burning that I imagine it's just a fluke but yeah, never good when something like this happens and it's celebrity owned.
I totally saw this... I was in traffic (typical) and saw a car fully engulfed. Being a typical LA driver I multitasked and Facetimed video of it to my brother in Chicago because the car was burning VERY well. In fact, much of the metal bits looked to have melted which now makes sense as the XJ8 has a lot of Aluminum…
When you're building your car there's a running price on the right side of the screen that changes as you add or delete features. Next to that price is a little Apple IOS style switch that says "cash" or "finance". Click it and you'll get the cash price.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned BMW's N54 twin turbo 3 liter. It's an engine so apt for forced induction that a large part of the community of people that mod them have no concept of engine knock, why one might need forged internals to handle higher power levels, why people use copper head gaskets or why a more…
It would appear that we both showed up to the battle of wits yet only one of us showed up armed.
Agreed on all points and I think you said it better than I did. It's not a terrible car. It's not even a bad car but praise it for what it is: a solid, body on frame, rear wheel drive sedan that can have the snot kicked out of it and still go without a hiccup, not as a mediocre attempt at a performance car.
While I might actually be inclined to agree about the cluelessness and narcissistic desire to read my own words, I think you might have missed the part where I was asked if I've driven one of these before and answered in the affirmative.
Not for me... I actually do have a rugrat which prevents me from owning such cars. I did just buy my wife an FX35 though which I have a bit of a crush on.
Well said. I think those are all good supporting points for your point of view and you make a good point with respect to it being the last vestige of large, American Muscle sedans. Everything since has gotten decidedly more European and refined (which is a good thing!).
Good God... And I thought we had ridiculous taxes. Is that just an import tarrif?
I have driven one actually and was thoroughly underwhelmed. I think I was driving a 140hp Taurus at the time so that's saying something too! I guess if attitude is your sole criteria for whether or not a car can be considered classic and you think the Marauder has attitude it's a classic. I happen to think a car…
The Karma is both painfully unreliable, slow, not very green and gets wretched gas mileage once it's forced to turn on it's engine. The i3 is an awkward looking economy car with a premium pricetag, isn't fast and doesn't look like something any reasonable person would want to be seen in.
I disagree. The Marauder is big, not necessarily good looking (though not ugly), underpowered and handles poorly. It's a mishmosh of parts from the existing parts bin, few of which were developed specifically for the car.
Yeah but if you order the base Tesla you get a better handling, better looking car that will seat more people, in a more comfortable cabin, be exponentially faster, get exponentially more range and beats the econo-box looking i3 in basically any measurement you can imagine.
