I'm surprised nobody has mentioned BMW's N54 twin turbo 3 liter. It's an engine so apt for forced induction that a large part of the community of people that mod them have no concept of engine knock, why one might need forged internals to handle higher power levels, why people use copper head gaskets or why a more

It would appear that we both showed up to the battle of wits yet only one of us showed up armed.

Agreed on all points and I think you said it better than I did. It's not a terrible car. It's not even a bad car but praise it for what it is: a solid, body on frame, rear wheel drive sedan that can have the snot kicked out of it and still go without a hiccup, not as a mediocre attempt at a performance car.

While I might actually be inclined to agree about the cluelessness and narcissistic desire to read my own words, I think you might have missed the part where I was asked if I've driven one of these before and answered in the affirmative.

Not for me... I actually do have a rugrat which prevents me from owning such cars. I did just buy my wife an FX35 though which I have a bit of a crush on.

Well said. I think those are all good supporting points for your point of view and you make a good point with respect to it being the last vestige of large, American Muscle sedans. Everything since has gotten decidedly more European and refined (which is a good thing!).

Good God... And I thought we had ridiculous taxes. Is that just an import tarrif?

I have driven one actually and was thoroughly underwhelmed. I think I was driving a 140hp Taurus at the time so that's saying something too! I guess if attitude is your sole criteria for whether or not a car can be considered classic and you think the Marauder has attitude it's a classic. I happen to think a car

The Karma is both painfully unreliable, slow, not very green and gets wretched gas mileage once it's forced to turn on it's engine. The i3 is an awkward looking economy car with a premium pricetag, isn't fast and doesn't look like something any reasonable person would want to be seen in.

I disagree. The Marauder is big, not necessarily good looking (though not ugly), underpowered and handles poorly. It's a mishmosh of parts from the existing parts bin, few of which were developed specifically for the car.

Yeah but if you order the base Tesla you get a better handling, better looking car that will seat more people, in a more comfortable cabin, be exponentially faster, get exponentially more range and beats the econo-box looking i3 in basically any measurement you can imagine.

Ha! Apparently I fail at exuding sarcasm.

Under 30k for a competent sport tourer? Yes please. Can I strap the baby seat onto the hatch?

Good gawd... This is what companies are putting forward to compete with Tesla? THIS? Where are the pluses to owning a car like this? You seem to give up so much in exchange for what? Certainly not cost savings.

My vote goes to Nissan with the GT-R transmissions that would spill their internals if the factory fitted launch control function was used. Who sells a car with a built-in function that voids your warranty if used? Just eliminate the function. It's like BMW putting in a menu to overboost their turbo engines,

Was it not Spain where the other deadly crash was a few weeks back? What's the scoop here? Between all the rail/ plane issues lately I'm about ready to lock myself in my house.

Now playing

As impressive as this is, and it is... I can't help but to feel there are platforms out there who's rise to speed saw much less fanfare and took much more work.

A non-M E60 should be a pretty reliable car. My 550 was ridiculously reliable. That was a solid car. The 535 has gone in for a few issues that are common to that engine but they're also things that I wouldn't have even bothered addressing were it not for my warranty.

A couple points in response to this:

Ha! I feel reluctant to tell you that I own one of the largest aftermarket companies for the 3800 cars and the Grand Prix. Yeah, the M5 body kit has always kind of reminded me of the old Pontiacs with respect to boy racer looks but common, there's not 100lbs of plastic body cladding on the doors!
