No but reporting on it is and some might take the declaration of truce to mean that Jalopnik is no longer going to call a spade a spade because Jason met Will I Am and doesn't want to upset his new friend... (tongue in cheek there).

I still love the Phaeton. I just think VAG shot themselves in the foot by offering it. It does almost nothing better than the A8 and it has a VW badge, not exactly the best way to sell prestige. For what it is though, it's a very cool car and the attention to detail is maddening... The dehumidifier for the…
Yes, try the same vintage BMW's. The first generation of iDrive was wretched plus the cars were plagued with drivetrain problems too.
Geez, if the 2006 Range Rover can be had for that little it's taken a serious depreciation hit. I've always liked them but at 30k I could think of so many other cars I liked more.
I see your Phaeton and I raise you an Audi A8. The A8 is the Phaeton's platform -mate but is lighter to the tune of 600 lbs because of it's aluminum body. In addition to that, it has much newer tech on it, a better navigation system, bluetooth, better build quality, an Audi badge, ridiculous reliability (other than…
I think it's the fact that both of those trucks are so much better composed that makes them appear to be going slower.
Ok, so it's not a self-repair fail but rather a self-improvement fail. Back in the late 90's I owned a Taurus GL. This Taurus was equipped with the 3.0L OHV V6 engine which sported a rather unsportsmanlike 140hp. Shortly after I bought my Taurus I discovered that there was another Taurus, a faster Taurus. Only this…
Oh no! As the owner of an E60 I have to strongly disagree! It's the best selling 5 series of all time, Chris Bangle was ahead of his time and all that jazz. No but really, I don't understand how people have so much disdain for the E60's ass. It's not as if it's 1996 - 1999 Taurus controversial. Slap an M5 bump on…
The tragedy here is that they are scared enough to put up these bulletins soliciting tips but then offer $50... in the form of a gift card... a total of 3 times of week.
I made 150K+ off of Craigslist last year using strictly up and up methods (no gray/ black hat, no ad postings). I can haz documentary now?
You didn't drive the sport package 535 I bet. Most of them are not sport package cars and those cars, for lack of a better term: stink. They're exactly what you describe. Toss the sport package on the 5 series and it's a completely new car. Hydraulically variable sway bars, wider (staggered) wheels, a lower firmer…
I get that but why mention Twitter specifically and then not draw the connection? I entered the article expecting to read about Twitter and instead I see an article about a completely different website that could eventually affect other sites like Twitter or any of the other thousands of aggregators that rely on 3rd…
lol, no... it just seems they're getting lazier with the headline bating.
I don't get the connection to Twitter other than to say the eventual change in law could affect sites like Twitter? Was the sole purpose of the headline to garner page views regardless of accuracy or relevance or did I completely miss the connection to Twitter?
Not sure what the charges are for that where you are but out here in the people's republic of Illinois that's a very big no-no and if I recall correctly: an arrestable offense. Not to mention that your insurance is null without registration.
I think if you drove an S8 or S6 you'd be singing the same tune as me. The S6 is especially nose heavy and understeers if pushed. It's not a desirable driving experience and you have all the compromises of a high horsepower V10 car (namely poor gas mileage) with none of the benefit. What's the point? I don't want…
Never HAS something...
Audi has a history of putting out products with underwhelming driver experience when compared to their numbers, at least in the states. The S8 and S6 are great examples of these. Even the S5 isn't what I would consider to be awesome. Compared to BMWs and Mercs of the same ilk, they're downright disappointing. It…
Who's ripping mid-4 second 0-60 times in the A7? I can't find one example of that. Likewise with the 1/4 mile... I'm finding mid - high 13 second passes. Again, not slow but not fast... Adequate.
You're right, it's not a BMW. The BMW alternative, the V10 M5, suffers from $6000 SMG pump failures and $10,000 VANOS failures that sometimes cost you your engine. Then there's all the iDrive failures. No sir, no BMW here. Oh, and I own a 550i and owned an M5. I just know to call a spade a spade.
