@Wrecklaimer: A lot of these are standard, but Fallout, despite being played in a FPS mode, is still more RPG than FPS. So fans make mods to shift it back a little the other way, for people who enjoy the role playing aspect but prefer to run and gun a little better when it gets down to combat time.

@DK_Saj: There have been several major patches fixing a lot of the biggest problems. I've played almost 100 hours in the game without any significant errors. And if you're playing on the PC anyway, it's really easy to fix most of the errors. Either grab a fanmade patch, or use the console to input a needed command to

@Michael O'Hair: It's why they write the EULA on the modding tools the way they do. If you make a mod for their game, they can legally use that idea for any future game, and you can't do anything about it. In exchange, you get the freedom to make pretty much any kind of mod you want and they even give you the tools.

@DocSeuss: Start here. The Nexus site is one of the biggest modding communities in the world, and I think it is the biggest for Fallout 3 and New Vegas. If you want to get tips on how to do anything, or are looking at getting a team together, or even just want to throw out suggestions in the hope that someone more

@Kowl Slaw: Yes, the thermal vision is part of the mod. It's added to lore-appropriate headgear, which means the power armor basically. And the mod is designed to be modular, so you can disable parts you don't like, and just leave the ones you do.

@FuriouslyLogical: Bethesda games (and I guess Obsidian games published by and based on Bethesda games) always have tons of mods, and (eventually) always make the PC version superior. Just keep that in mind if you are planning on getting Skyrim later this year.

@Superfly_CJ: Fallout Wanderer's Edition was a much bigger mod than this one is trying to be, precisely because Fallout 3 was less than what New Vegas turned out to be. NV got a lot of stuff from the modding community, and FWE is one of those mods that was incorporated into the sequel. The whole hardcore mode, with

Now playing

@Coillscath: Yes, it's totally modular. It has a control panel added to the game, allowing you to pick and choose exactly what you want added, and it works out really nicely.

@burgerk1ng: The blue is because your eyes adjusted, and you weren't used to seeing things without it. Trust me, I've been playing with this for a little while. You don't notice the visor after a while, and then when you take it off, everything looks weird. Just like real life.

@iatw: A lot of the abilities use your action points. The bullet time, sprinting, tackling, and maybe some other things I'm forgetting, all utilize the action points as an alternative to using the VATS system already in place. For tackling specifically, I think it uses 25% of your total action points, so if you

@Coillscath: The original movie was two hours long. The series lasted for over a decade, with 4 shows and several movies, totaling hundreds of episodes. I think I can forgive people for becoming a little more attached to the latter rather than the former.

So they are getting the PC experience. They should be thankful they get to experience something the Xbox 360 users aren't getting.

@wh213206: So long as you play while connected to the Internet, they will all be dated, so even if you do get them all it can still function as a map of how you did things, and how long it took to do them.

@KrautMcFriend: I don't give a shit about gamerscore, but I do like completing games 100%. If every game gave me 2 gamerscore, I wouldn't care, as long as I still managed to get all the achievements. Of course, I have plenty of games it will never happen with, precisely because of achievements like the ones listed

The first item here bugs me a hell of a lot more than the second. Both are annoying, though, and developers need to knock that shit off. Don't be lazy and throw these things in at the last minute. It was understandable 5 years ago when nobody really knew what to do with trophies or achievements, but you've had plenty

@BtownDesignGuy: Rockstar is not a company known for putting out bullshots. They just do incredibly detailed and vibrant work, and let it speak for itself.

I'm so glad to be seeing this mod get some more attention. I posted about this here on Kotaku in one of the talk threads, but those move so fast I think I got buried after only being seen by maybe 3 people.

@Gilthwixt: No, they haven't modified the AI to be able to use this stuff. They are still working on the balance, though, and will continue to test and refine long after the 1.0 release. I think Fallout Wanderer's Edition got up to 6.0 before they moved on to New Vegas.

@ViperVin: Obsidian actually took a lot from the modders when making New Vegas. The mod they mention, Fallout Wanderers Edition, added a lot of stuff you find in New Vegas that wasn't in Fallout 3. For example, the entire hardcore mode was inspired by that mod, which did the same in Fallout 3, making ammo have

@MasterYong: This mod replaces those cybernetic implants with their system. Now if you go that doctor, she only sells you the implants; to install them, you need to use this method, which limits the number you can get. So no more just being rich and getting all 10 implants to overpower your character.
