Shouldn’t series that weren’t made in the US be left out of the running? This isn’t the Best Commonwealth Nations Actor award.

Go back to what I suppose is his sole acting credit (that I know of), the series ‘Broadcast News’. Its funny how Andy Dick’s spaz character on that series turned out to resemble the real Andy Dick, and Joe Rogan’s conspiracy nut meathead character turned out to resemble the real Joe Rogan.

I keep remembering that SNL is a ‘hip’ sketch comedy show run by a 75 year old. Most of the humor doesn’t even rise to the level of dad jokes. It mostly involves desperate-seeming young actors as much as screaming ‘I’M BEING FUNNY NOW! SEE? I’M BEING FUNNY NOW!

The shine has come off that pop culture concept of ‘people famous for being famous’. Partially because one of them has got into the White House and is actively destroying the nation from within. And partially because anyone with a few bucks to host their own Youtube channel can be just as ‘famous’ as anyone else.

So many (presumably great) performances hidden behind multiple pay walls these days. The Peacock paywall, the Apple paywall, the CBS All Access paywall, the Disney paywall, the Hulu paywall. etc. I couldn’t hope to say which performances (among all those I haven’t seen) were the best.

Ah yes, Tina Fey again. Which is more insensitive, writing blackface skits or using the word ‘tranny’ as an epithet? SNL has produced some real douchbags over the years.

This being AV Club, I’m reminded of a James Spader line from the TV series ‘Boston Legal’ where, as a random aside, he described the P. Hilton sex tape as mediocre boring sex, or words to that effect.

I was watching a recently uploaded Youtube music video review clip. The guy was coughing, complaining that he has bronchitis. My first thought was ‘Dude, you’re an American party boy under 30. You’ve most likely got COVID-19.’

Schitt’s Creek is Canadian. Why do some foreign series get the nod for the ‘American’ Emmys while others don’t? Sure sure, ‘Game of Thrones’ was produced by Netflix so it qualified. So was ‘Iaetwon Class’ but that apparently means nothing.

A standing joke of mine is if the voters had their way the series ‘30 Rock’ would still be getting Emmys despite it having been off the air for seven years... and the last couple season sucking. Sometimes it all just seems like a name recognition contest.

Jude Law has had a long career. According to Wikipedia this is his 55th film.. Has he ever been in anything that was actually ‘bad’, or at least where his acting got panned? Okay, he was in Sherlock Holmes and in Fantastic Beasts But I don’t recall anyone claiming he was bad in them. There are few actors where we can’t

I’ve come across a lot of people who thought baby Yoda was the cutest thing in the world but very few who thought the series was very good. The Podcast ‘Newcomers’ watched all things Star Wars but balked at watching more than one episode of The Mandalorian. I’m no Star Wars expert but even I recall the original Yoda

CBS is partnered with the CW. If they de-link ‘CBS All Access’ from CBS they could theoretically have a ready cache of younger-skewed programming to offer. Instead of rerunning geriatric NCIS they could offer entire seasons of ‘Suburgatory’ or ‘Supernatural’ or ‘Supergirl’.

Woodward spent the bulk of his long career as a water-carrier for the Washington elite RNC. I’m becoming fatigued with praising conservative journalists for finally realizing stuff the rest of the world already knew 5 years ago.

15-20 years ago the feminist message to young women was “We’re sexual beings. Its our bodies and we can do whatever we want with whomever we want.” I guess they should have added the caveat “...but only within your peer group.”

I’m down for watching Susan-fucking-Sarandon being euthanized.  Remember 4 years ago when she claimed there was no difference between former Secretary of State Clinton and former reality TV actor Trump?

Before you jump on Warner Brothers remember Netflix and others never share their ratings numbers either. These are extraordinary times and the old rules don’t apply.

I genuinely don’t get ASMR... like at all. It feel like some obscure sexual fetish of some sort that I’m unaware of.

The Chinese entertainment industry has gotten BIG in recent years. If you go across Asia and much of Africa you’ll find people are no longer watching ancient ‘Friends’ episodes. They’re more likely to be watching ‘Go Go Squid’, ‘Arsenal military Academy’, ‘The Song of Glory’ or ‘The World Owes Me A First Love’. I’ve

This trend in gay and lesbian films seems to be related to our discomfort these days at showing straight people falling deeply in love. The question has been asked why the rom-com genre seems to have collapsed. Its mostly because we’re embarrassed by ‘straight people emotions’. Love is treated as a psychological disord
